I saw an episode of extreme engineering (or something) on the discovery channel about that alaska-siberia bridge. I don't think it would work though.

seen it before, the gap is because the last bit of it has to go under water so that shipping lanes are kept clear.

Yes the bridge is real. It's called Øresundsbron (or Oresund Bridge). It's a bit less then 8 km long. What you see on the photo is the danish side of the bridge/tunnel. I've went on it 3 years ago.
