Pupwiz
I am having some nasty troubles with the SP2 update and windows updates security center. In my company I was asked to have the systems update on there own for the new machines that we are putting sp2 on to start with and I can't seem to get the autoupdate to co-operate as it always showing up as off and not able to turn it on. I have did some research to why but am unable to find the reason for the full new system install (I slip streamed them from the orginal xp pro not the sp1 update as researched) of why the auto updates are disable and you are not able to turn them on in the security update center both radio buttons are greyed out. I have went to the update site and the update system is working so it must be on but the update center is poping up saying its off. Any suggestions of what I am doing wrong. I have been looking throught the security manager to see if there is something in there but I am not sure where to look. If I set the registry settings to on might this fix the problem? For the note this doesn't happen when I use the disk to upgrade a already installed machine that has the autoupdates on it shows as everything is ok. Very strange but Until I figure out why I am using the registry tweak to override the security center. The reason for having it on is so that someone in the office that turns it off will ask IS why it is poping up so that they can be turned back on. newdles
First check to see if the system service is enabled. Start > Run > services.msc and hit enter. Be sure Cryptographic service, Automatic Updates, Task Scheduler, and Background Intelligence Transfer are all enabled.

Incroyable HULK
The other possibility is that your domain controller is in the Windows Server 2003 Familly and that the SUSadmin Service is installed (Automatic Update controlled by Group Policy)For my part, I Have a French Unnatended Install with SP2 slipstreamed and the Automatic Update is working normally... no problem so far
Pupwiz
I checked and the Domain controller is running group policy but the systems are not being setup on the domain untill after they are sent out. When they reach the right office then They are added to the domain and are taken over by the domain controller. They are being setup to allow them to auto update without intervention. I am scanning registry settings to see if I can locate where it may be set to over ride the control from the popup but no luck yet. Thanks for the suggestions and help so far it is much appreciated guy thanks.
