booster
Hi there..At which point do you run WIHU ?RunOnceEx.cmd ?cmdlines.txt ?I is not possible to run it directly from cmdlines.txt.Programs will install fine. (mostly) but network operations will not work as the network is not startet at that point.
BenjaminKalytta
I presume here you are using windows 2000. if yes, there are problems when using WIHu in Windows 2000. if not please also send me your entire log file (/log=logile.log)Benjamin
nivek7
I run it from a cmd file which is called from cmdlines. I am also Windows XP...Hmm... thats strange, i don't get the error when i run it "normally" but i get the error when i call it from the cmd file which is called by cmdlines... so i have to remake iso and test it again in vmware to log it... ill be about an hour.. hehe
BenjaminKalytta
At this stage WIHU can't create and logon newly created users because system service "secondary logon" isn't started at this time. Please use /SkipSettings switch here and use software installation only.Benjamin
nivek7
oh, i use runonceex for programs but i want to use wihu to make my users since i don't want a pre-named username and i want the person to make their own user. also i want the runonceex to install all the programs for that user... booster
You have to call WIHU from RunOnceEx.cmdThis is how I do:REG ADD %KEY%\010 /VE /D "Calling WIHU" /fREG ADD %KEY%\055 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\$OEM$\Setups\wihu.exe /LOG=c:\wihu.log" /f
BenjaminKalytta
I correct my self: Creating users at this stage is possible but logon isn't possible, i.e. settings user shell folder and user environment variables and also installing software as this new created user isn't possible.Btw. I use [GuiRunOnce] section of winnt.sif to start WIHU.Benjamin
nivek7
If i call it from runonceex, would all the applications install under the new user? or would i have to do a restart first?edit: oh and is there a command that MAKES you restart for sure? so i can use the norestartchange and that command... BenjaminKalytta
I don't know when RunOnceEx.cmd is called, but in case it is the same as GuiRunOnce there is no restriction calling WIHU.And yes, with /NoRestartChange you can prevent users from disabling restart.WIHU restarts the system by default.Benjamin
nivek7
ok, thanks for your help. time for me to test it!
nivek7
one more thing... if i don't create the "Administrator" account that is called administrator in wihu, will windows create it anyways with the settings in winnt.sif?
BenjaminKalytta
WIHU will not prevent Windows from creating any user account. You may use WIHU only to modify or delete some existing Windows accounts.Benjamin
nivek7
ok, i still have a problem. all my programs install fine except alcohol 120%. it says the system administrator has set policies to disable this installation (it was something like that) i had no problems when i was using the .cmd to make pre-named users.thanks
booster
If you are installing from the new user you created, make sure it has admin rights or else Alcohol cannot install some of it's drivers.May go for other programs too.
