koden Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 does XP SP2 firewall not bloch for ads an all that stuff??
GeneralMandible Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 does XP SP2 firewall not bloch for ads an all that stuff??XP SP2 adds a pop-up blocker to IE6 and the firewall is supposed to have more configuration options and be more LAN friendly. I haven't had a chance to do some testing with the firewall yet.
CoffeeFiend Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Another vote for a router (and not a cheap 10$ refurb DLink DI-604 but a good one). I like my zyxell.
DakotaSunRunner Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 HI all,I use the kerio firewall and find it more than adaquate. I use to use zone alarm pro and after thier last update I gave up on them.Kerio seems to be working fine and I am very pleased with it. I guess everyone has thier idea of what is best and that is alright, whatever works and does a good job for you that is the one you should use.But for me, it is Kerio all the way....Dakota SunRunner
N1K Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 I've used Outpost till now, but after installation of SP2 it'll be removed from my system so I could free a little more of system resources
gregD Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 Long time ZA Pro user until...Stayed with 4x through the latest snafu. Migrated to Kerio... then Tiny, tried Sygate Pro (which does not fully support dual NIC's, as on my lappie) and for the last month have been running Outpost Pro. Now installing throughout the home (5 rigs). Highly configurable, and I really like the logs (which are also highly configurable).
Erw Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 Norton (NIS04pro)Norton or McAfee, high security and very friendly, howeverMcAfee doesn't want to update anymore .and Sygate uses to much CPU.
Kyliefan001 Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 Sygate 5.5 Pro....Nothing has got in and nothing is getting out!
Schmeisser Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 I've tried almost every 3rd party firewall outside, my last favorite is Kaspersky Anti-Hacker. It eats system resources real less than any other plus has a good working IDS.
