[start menu] rename 'My Computer'

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I can locate the registry entry which holds my current name for 'My Computer' in the start menu but how to export this so it will work in a silent install.

It appears that the location is different for each install?

(I also want te rename "My network places')

My humble appologies if my search skills prove unsatisfactory :)

It would appear that the entries are not per-install based as my vmware takes my normal installations entries?

For those who wondered:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}]
@="COMPUTER NAME"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D}]
@="NETWORK"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}]
@="TRASH"
