SFC_OS.DLL hack for XP SP2 Final

Recommended Posts
Can anyone explain why RaveRod change regkey value in sfc_os.dll ? Old one - SFCDisable not work or blocked?
The answer is in the question.

When SFCDisable value is FFFFFF9D, then SFCDisable is reset so FFFFFF9D is not working with SP2.
Using a different name for this registry entry, make the use of FFFFFF9D working again.

I made an hacked SFC_OS.DLL for disabling WFP without any registry settings.

You can replace the file from your Windows XP SP2 source files or follow this guide if you have already installed XP.

1) Rename the hacked SFC_OS.DLL to SFC_OS.DLL.HACK

2) Unchecked "Hide protected operating system files" from "Folder Options"

3) Copy SFC_OS.DLL.HACK to "%WINDIR%\system32\dllcache"

4) Copy SFC_OS.DLL.HACK to "%WINDIR%\system32"

5) Start Task Manager, select Processes tab, right-click on explorer.exe and select End Process

6) On Task Manager menu, select File / New Task(Run...) and browse to "%WINDIR%\system32\dllcache"

7) Rename SFC_OS.DLL to SFC_OS.DLL.BAK and rename SFC_OS.DLL.HACK to SFC_OS.DLL

8) Browse to "%WINDIR%\system32"

9) Rename SFC_OS.DLL to SFC_OS.DLL.BAK and rename SFC_OS.DLL.HACK to SFC_OS.DLL

If windows appears select "Cancel" and on Task Manager menu, select Shutdown / Restart

That's it. For re-enabling I think it's obvious.

Hello jdoe,

It would be easier for me to speak to you in french, but some people here may not appreciate... and they would be right.

The file you propose here to download is SFC_OS.DL_ which goes in I386 folder previously to an installation.

Your (clear) explanation above deals with SFC_OS.DLL which takes place in System32 and dllcache folders after an installation.

Does theat mean the two files are exactly same (except their name), or is the first one may changed during the installation (name AND core) ? In that case... what to do for an already done installation ?

Thank you for your help (you or anybody else who understand everything about this ;) )

Additionally, you can elevate install rights using gpedit.msc....
THis is all freeware from Microsoft...

Works for me... :D :thumbup

Changed my BOOT.INI hope WFP will now be disabled

Aha so DEP has nothing to do with what I want to achieve!
Well could some1 plis give me the cracked SFC_OS.DLL
The only one I found on this forum was the one to put in i386(SFC_OS.DL_)
But I need the one to be put into an existing WINXP SP2 installation.

ps. I already tried hacking SFC_OS.DLL with a HEX editor but got nowhere! Since with the HEX EDITOR I just can't find the right key as per this guide:

hi, I have been looking for lots of solutions on WFP, most of the solutions require you to hack the sfc_os.dll or sfcfiles.dll, and this requires a lot of effort.

And I have tried many times, even downloaded the hacked sfcfile.dl_ and replaced it in the source CD, but this still didnt work. :(

But at last, I found a very easy solutions, just run the program, and restart, hasslefree.

Just click this link and goto the download site!
