Hi,

I've downloaded XPCreate, used it on my SP1a pre-slipstreamed WinXP English. After integrating all hotfixes downloaded by XPCreate and used it to install under VMWare, I saw a couple of critical updates (around 7 i think) that weren't downloaded (or applied) as well as 2 recommended updates (one is MSN 4.7).

Does anyone here have a similar scenario?

anyways, checking at the files that were downloaded, i saw MSN Messenger's setup.exe was downloaded but i wonder why hasnt it been applied or at least removed from the windowsupdate list i needed to update.

seems i was able to find a workaround... hopefully...

after downloading all the updates...

what i did then was to edit the xpcreate.ini's settings:

from:

DLURL=http://xpcreate.wiretapped.us/HFLISTS

to:

DLURL=

then, copied all the necessary updated hotfixes at their respective folders:

these files will belong at the SVC-HF1 folder:

WindowsXP-KB842773-x86-enu.exe

WindowsXP-KB841873-x86-enu.exe

WindowsXP-KB840315-x86-enu.exe

WindowsXP-KB839645-x86-enu.exe

this file will be placed at the SVC-HF2 folder:

Windows-KB870669-x86-ENU.exe

this file will be placed at the SVC-POS folder (replacing the old OE6.0sp1-KB837009-x86-ENU.exe file):

IE6.0sp1-KB823353-x86-ENU.exe

then, after i recompiled the CD using XPCreate, all these updates were installed.

please see attached file for a snapshot of the result on my windows update.

great :)

thanks for the added info:

this file will be placed at the SVC-POS folder (replacing the old OE6.0sp1-KB837009-x86-ENU.exe file):

IE6.0sp1-KB823353-x86-ENU.exe

i'll give it a try latter. (i've been installing with both of them there)

as for msn mess i have been using 6.1 not 4.7 that why i ignor it. xpcreate use to install the 6.1 for me instead of the 4.7 just by replacing it but it don't work that way now so i just install it from runonce instead.

  • 2 weeks later...

I know, I know ... The lists are out of date, and I'm on the road, away from my lab. Just toooo much trouble to test and download from a laptop with a mobile phone for a connection. Soon ...

Thanks to those of you that do try to help out the others. For now, just add the missing updates to the correct directories, and all should be OK.
