I've looked through this post, in search of one specific Windows Media Player clean-up that seems not to bother anyone but me... :)

When using the Windows Explorer, right clicking a folder with only music files in it in the left pane (ie. in the folder tree pane, a.k.a. Folders Toolbar) gives the option to "Play" (no more than that). This plays the folder in WMP. Does anyone know how to get rid of this tiny annoyance?

(I altready found these but they don't solve this particular problem)

NIC's with onboard processor

Some network adapters have a built in processor the fix will take all network processing off of the CPU only if your NIC has an onboard processor. If you paid $10 for it then don't count on it :)

Disables offloading of processor tasks to the network adapter. Offloading is designed to optimize performance of Windows 2000/XP.

NDIS 5.0 lets TCP take full advantage of intelligence in network adapters by letting the adapter do some of the tasks normally performed by the processor. Letting the processor offload these tasks to the network adapter leaves the processor free for tasks that only it can perform.

TCP in Windows 2000/XP supports offloading of IPSec encryption to network adapters with encryption hardware, and offloading of TCP checksum calculations on headers and data to capable network adapters.

I got a few tweaks working that I couldn't find anywhere else, including being able to apply the ClearType font smoothing that you tweak on microsoft's website. (Mine is specifically tweaked, but if you want to find your own tweaked ClearType settings, just go to the same branch as the code shows)

I've decided to incorporate WMP9 into my setup via svcpack.inf. But now I get that stupid welcome screen everytime a new user launches it:

Is there some sort of reg tweak that will turn that off?

One other question -- is there any reason why I shouldn't include WMP9? Is there any reason why I should stick with the Default XP WMP?

that's not for auto arrange

that's for enabling quick launch!!! where did u get that idea?

on its very first line it states that its for quick launch????

XtremeMaC, my point in that post was that I had found the tweak for enabling Quick Launch, but not the one for Auto Arrange.

It's my English that was bad? Should I have written "I got nothing for Auto Arrange"? :)

This isn't a registry tweak but it just as useful. To disable the 'email to' link in the Send To menu, unregister sendmail.dll

regsvr32 /u sendmail.dll

You'll need to do this at about the 13 min mark. This is more for security than anything else. Email to is new to xp, and could pose a security risk.

Now there is that stupid mini-bar to contend with..... but I'm pretty sure that it is something I'll just have to deal with.

So is there any reason NOT to install WMP9? I haven't found any real problems with it yet.
