XPe boot from cd tutorial

Surely following your guide would create a CD that would only work in VMWare? You said it would only work on one hardware configuration, and the hardware configuration we use would be the VMWare one.

I was speaking sarcastically. With regard to your comment...

Tons of downloads and only a handfull of comments. If you've been here such a long time you should know that by now!

I even quoted you. Jeezzzz... Get it now?!?!

ps... what's your definition of ages? Six months? LOL :)

Quick one;

Can you tell me why it the XPe image needs to be created off a single partition?

why can't you just "build" to a folder, and then use the MS "ISOCreator" progie to burn to a CD? wouldn't that work as long as you have the ntbtldr & Boot.ini files?

(or is there more to the picture that I am missing?)

PS- Keep up the good work; I should finish following your guide tomorrow...

Regards,

Michael Patten

so for each system we want this to run on, we have to create the hardware definitions for each computer seperatly?

Surely there is a way to make it simpler and just include a bunch of command drivers and whatnot for the systems....

Thanks for the turorial, CuBie.

I have a problem though. Whenever I start VMware, I get a message

"No bootable CD, floppy or hard disk was detected."

Any help would be highly appriciated.

I have a simlar problem, I have followed cubie's guide step by step multiple times, but cannot get VMWare to boot off the disk (have checked VM Bios boot order).

Only factor I can thing of; I am using an external USB HDD mount to hold my 6GB DESKTOP hard drive for development work...

Should that have any impact?

Michael.
