Thanks for trying. I'll keep working at it, as it is my favorite editor. I've extracted the application from the setup program, so I just need to place it in %programfiles%/EditPlus 2, add right-click functionality, assign to text files, and apply my registration information.

Hello. Thanks for input, but I show 30 changes to registry and I do not understand most of them (as Mr. Gump would say, "I am not a smart man.")

I've filtered to the ones I think are necessary, but I don't know:

Basically, the only registry entries the Installer truly adds, is the Contect Menu and Uninstall entries. THe other ones were about renaming a file "eppshell.dll" but that would be taken care of if you just copy the files over to where you want them....

I am concerned the 63AFBDFB-5EF8-4791-AF79-9A3C0DE48974 part will not be correct for a newly installed system. I don't know what it is, or how it was generated.

Despite a random number by nature, it's defined by your app as long as it has the path included. So, it would be the same each time you install the app or the system. So, keep it in your entries.

Now, I think it's a good idea to SFX the whole bunch of files.

aaaah..finally a question up my alley. i can definitely help u with this one. but first ill ask u 2 questions of my own:

1. do u use edit pad pro, or the lite one? cuz i use lite and its free so basically for me theres no registration.

2. do u use notepad any longer? cuz i dont. and basically wt i hav done is replace notepad entirely in windows. this makes installating editpad lite a BREEZE in unattend.

this is how i do it

a) take the 2 files editpadpro.hlp and editpad pro.cnt and place them in ur $OEM$\$$\System32\ folder. this will copy these files into the windows\system32 folder

:) take the editpadlite exe file (dont remember wat its called any more, but shudbt be hard to spot) and rename it to notepad.exe. now use the modifype utility on it in the following format from a command prompy:

modifype -c notepad.exe

(u shud be able to find the modifype.exe file by searching the forum. otherwise pm me, ill give it to u)

c) use the makecab utility to compess ur new notepad.exe by using the following syntax: makecab.exe notepad.exe

d) replace the file notepad.ex_ in ur i386 folder with the one u just created.

e) export ur current editpad lite settings into a registry file. make sure u change all the relevant paths from c:\program files\blah blah blah to c:\windows\system32

f) just apply this reg file at cmdlines or any other stage u choose. ur done

i know this may sound complicated, so this is how u can make ur life much simpler

i just downloaded the program 2 see what kinda of installer it used.. it TELLS u soon as u launch it.. how could u not have figured it out :S

winzip has switches i believe on there site
