Unable to remove bridge.dll

Please help............

Ran the Norton Antivirus few days ago and it picked up 2 files of risk

bridge.dll

loader.exe

The antivirus was unable to delete the files.

Tried to locate the two files with windows explorer to delete them manually

but the files could not be visualised eventhough the antivirus indicated they resided

in the Temporary Internet Files folder.

Went to the Symantec site for advice and the suggested lines to delete in the Registry

were not there when searched for by regedit.

Downloaded Ad-aware 6 with its latest definitions(08/05/2004) and ran

it in Windows XPsafe mode. Ad-aware was able to locate and delete loader.exe

However bridge.dll remains elusive to Ad-aware except to Norton-antivirus

but it is unable to delete the file

Have also rebooted the Windows XP home version with restored points

disabled and then enabled and the bridge.dll is still picked up by the antivirus.

Please advice. I would like to thankyou in advance for any suggestions offered.

well some how its gotta be loading all the time.. the bridge.dll file that is.. so try looking for the loader.exe in your task manager, kill the task, goto Start > Run > type in "Msconfig" without quotes

Goto startup tab and look for that Loader.exe file. make sure u remove the tick and apply and restart, so on startup it shouldnt load the exe which then shouldnt run the bridge.dll file.. then run norton and it should kill it as mostlikey the exe ran the dll and both of which shouldnt be running as a process.. hopefully that may help u

Do One thing....download the Hijackthis program and run the program. Paste the log file here and i will let you know what entries to delete!

You can get the Hijackthis program by typing Hijackthis keyword in google.

Dear Doggie, thankyou for your prompt suggestion. Tried looking for the loader.exe in the startup tab of msconfig but it is not present. I have a sinking feeling that when i deleted it with ad-aware 6 , i may have deleted the exe file without the accompanying bridge.dll file. Any other advice??

Managed to delete bridge.dll file by entering Control Panel>internet options> temporary internet files>Delete files

Ran Norton Antivirus and all is clear...Phew!!!
