forjonny Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Just bought a new Dell Latitude. I ordered it with Office 2024. I noticed when I got it that I had Office 365 on it. I also had icons for Word, Excel & PP. I wasn't going to use 365 so I uninstalled it. Now I don't have any Office on my new computer. No Word, Excel or PP icons to click on and my documents won't open. So what's up? Is Office 2024 bundled with 365? So if you delete 365 then it deletes all other Microsoft Office products?
Dave-H Posted April 23 Posted April 23 If you had a local copy of Office 2024 installed on the machine, its files should still be there, and it should still be in the 'Programs and features' list. 🤔
tekkaman Posted June 23 Posted June 23 I think Windows 11 comes with Office 365 installed. You have to uninstall it then download Office 2024 and install it because they're not the same. I think that's how it goes.
forjonny Posted June 23 Author Posted June 23 I actually paid for Office 2024 before the computer was shipped so Dell could load it. I didn't know that uninstalling 365 could take away my Office '24 during this uninstall. Am I dumb or outdated. Been doing computers since Windows 3.1 too. I guess I don't know all the new rules.
tekkaman Posted June 24 Posted June 24 I think since about 2013 computers come preloaded with 365 version. And it's not the same as the yearly version. I don't think you can use the same key to activate it. You have to uninstall 365 version and install the yearly version.
forjonny Posted June 24 Author Posted June 24 Well that sure doesn't answer my question. My 2024 was installed with icons for the programs. And typically I had a link for 365. Of course you have to sign into 365 to have it working for you with a credit card if I understand it right. I just decided that my office was already on the computer and I could get rid of the 365. I did that and that's when all my icons for Word, Excel, Publisher, etc. disappeared and my Office 24 was gone with it. I guess no one knows the answer to this one. I had to call Dell and give credentials to get my Office '24 back from Dell's Digital Delivery Service which took an hour. So to me 365 is connected somehow with my bought and paid for Office '24. Who knew? And who even can figure this out? I can tell you. No one! Anyhow, can't stand repeating myself.

There are some things you can try. 1- Call them to ask for it. 2- Use a key finder to see if it can find it on the system. Then you can download it again from MS servers. 3- Technically the Factory from the recovery partition should give you the Office back.  The mistake was from the Dell Technician. He should've removed Office 365 before installing 2024. It's never a good idea to have different versions at the same time. Edited June 24 by tekkaman
