Guest Posted January 15 Posted January 15 (edited) It is a generalized modern trend. Even Ubuntu 24.10 does not seem brilliant and generates a discouragement in my decision, that of choosing the least worst OS that will be available in October 2025. https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/ubuntu-24-10-review.html Note that despite everything Mrkvonic ( (I have known him since 2013 by this Nick Name) installed Windows 11 on his PC: Quote .........I booted the distro from a USB drive on my IdeaPad 3 test machine, currently triple-boot Kubuntu, MX Linux, and Windows 11........... NotHereToPlayGames Posted January 15 Posted January 15 (edited) I technically have not tried Win11. We don't even use it here at work and work is always the first to make sure they have the latest-and-greatest "in the name of security". My most recent experience with Linux was just a month or two ago - Linux Mint 18.1 32-bit xfce on an Acer Aspire One. Not a good benchmark though. That Acer Aspire One is a *POS* with XP, a *POS* with Win2k, and a *POS* with Linux Mint xfce. I'm very close to configuring a Linux-based CALCULATOR APP and remove the entire keyboard sans numpad and just turn the *POS* into a CALCULATOR and not an "operating system". Tripredacus Posted January 15 Posted January 15 The Explorer experience is the worst. I am still not used to it. I use the context menu a lot and they took the things like cut, copy and paste off the menu and replaced those functions with small icons. So now I just use the keyboard shortcuts instead of the menu.

Security today, should be based on preventing stealer-malwares. So a good configuration of browsers + increased protection against phishing would be essential. Configuration that should mitigate any damage produced by the weakest link in the chain, humans using PCs.
