My biggest issue with Windows 11 surprisingly was more the AI features being added. I was able to tolerate it until Recall (Intelligence?) was added. That drove me away, and I've been using openSUSE for the past few months now. Only thing I am missing are two games.

By October 2025 my PC will either have Linux (which I have known how to use perfectly for several years) or Win11.

I am NOT content to stay with Windows 10 after October 2025.

Windows often breaks on me eventually in some way. Had this s*** since XP days, went through different usage patterns, eg. ran an antivirus way back, then didn't run an antivirus (they rarely found anything and just tried removing stuff they didn't like, nothing malicious), there were eras when I installed all updates, then eras when I didn't install any updates. For a long time now, I almost always install only programs I intend to keep.

The laptop at work, well this one is almost holding up, except TPM broke in few years and there's an endless spam in Windows' event log about TPM being in error state. Can't they report it ONCE a day instead of multiple times per second?

Can't say if it's just Windows having obscure bugs or flaky hardware.

What is a "game"?  Any 20yr computer should be able to play solitaire, sudoku, wordle, minesweeper, tetris, pac-man, frogger, donkey kong, dig dug, centipede, space invaders - you old folks remember 'em all!

But come on!  The death of the PC as far as just a core OS probably died the day "they" decided that "game consoles" and "desktop pcs" should both be able to splatter blood in hi-def realism when the gun-toting gangsta shoots down the pimp or ho on the sidewalk.

Yeah, that shows my age too, I don't technically know if some of these shoot-'em-up blood-splatter-everywhere "games" are shooting at pimps and hos or not.  I'm not even sure if it's hos or hoes.

I understood the days of Pac-Man and Frogger.  I stopped "understanding" in the days of Mario Brothers and Sonic.

Hi-def realism of a bullet shattering bone or an axe beheading a monster, nope, zero understanding whatsoever.

I remember when Nintendo came out, when Playstation came out, when Sega came out, when XBox came out.  And while not my scene, I applauded their popularity!

For one, I remember the days when COMPUTER PERFORMANCE had to COMPETE with these GAMING CONSOLES.  So computer performance BENEFITED big time!

I don't know what happened that COMPUTERS and GAMING CONSOLES no longer tend to COMPETE but rather the "gamer" resorts to a COMPUTER to play his/her games instead of a GAMING CONSOLE.

Win11 23H2 really is a clunker compared to Win10 20H2. That slight delay I got restoring Pale Moon's window by clicking its taskbar button when it has couple of unloaded tabs and CuteButtons extension active, it takes full second on Win11 while it's closer to 250 ms on Win10.

Other users wrote about general sluggishness as well, Explorer definitely got heavier again.

I still don't get why my Win10 broke after I got into testing Win11 (DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, which seem to occur every few days now on transitions to low power states), I shut down Win10 normally back then and hid its partitions by setting their type to 0. Maybe an overkill and potentially risky, but works for the other OS to ignore them. Although maybe setting them to some other non-zero type would be better since 0 means free space.

Memtest86+ 7.00 shows nothing after 7 hours. Spinning rust show no apparent faults, at least in S.M.A.R.T. Might be rustier after more than a decade.

Sometimes I think computers are nothing but another source of problems.

Why single out Windows out, though? I work at the company that develops software that has nothing to do with Windows, it's an endless bug galore.

but if they are doing what they wanted with NT6 then they migrated everything or most of the stuff to .net by now
and that thing is one huge unoptimized piece of shiiiiiii

now one could argue, so what if they did ?
but do mind that "that new platform" brings its huge pile of shiii with it...

in my personal view, winnt isn't anymore what it used to be
and with pushing this .net core to be cross-platform just makes me think even more junk they start to replace within OS

remember what Longhorn supposed to be ? - an .net OS connected with bunch of Services
now take that MS isn't getting money from selling OS-es anymore but services
so where does w11 fit in ?
