Goodwin Posted November 9 Posted November 9 16 hours ago, roytam1 said: removing ID checking doesn't make things not intend to work on other platforms becoming work in sudden you didn't understand me. The point is not to add anything to the extension manifest. You need to change it in the browsers themselves so that there is simply no checking. This will only make it easier for many users to install extensions. And the fact that most extensions do not work due to code incompatibility is a completely different question. For example, I already gave an example of https://realityripple.com/Software/XUL/deCDN/ which is not installed in basilisk.

He is here to support his brower variants. He is not here to support extensions. His browsers are NOT 'technically' *modern*. Removing ID checking would open up a whole can of worms where the "userbase" would ASSUME that *modern* extensions are supposed to "work". Roytam's browsers are only 80% modern. Sure, we could debate if that is actually 80% or 90% or 98%. But the reality is that they are NOT 100%! Why in Hades would roytam open his browsers up to an onslaught of support enquiries asking why a thousand extensions do not work because they rely on the 20% (or 10% or 2%) that his browsers simply cannot "do"? Goodwin Posted November 10 Posted November 10 NotHereToPlayGames The comment is not addressed to you, so don't interfere in someone else's conversation ! I am interested in the developer's response. Without such a fix, a lot of potential users will abandon such a browser at the very beginning. Considering that the main source of extensions for it is Classic Add-ons Archive. And only about 2-5% of WE (for basilisk) extensions from the mozilla site.

johk Posted November 10 Posted November 10 As of... about a month, or two, can't tell exact, NewMoon 28 is unable to login to AOL nor Yahoo (same parent company, same back/front systems). After input the password, nothing but a spinning circle on the submit button. Latest version/build, the same issue persists.

As I already reported, it is random and only happens with this forum since they changed the interface..... Download and look into Windows XP's Crash Dump above. Thanks, roytam1, for your great modified NewMoon browser, which allows us to continue to enjoy XP these days. For example, from the Japanese demoscener 0b5vr, it breaks my eyes! https://6octaves.com/2025/09/interview-with-demoscener-0b5vr.html

Extensions from realityripple.com, addons.palemoon.org. Or make an extension that disables checking. There was such a thing a long time ago. Installed in the usual way, not through a special mode selected in the extension itself. Edited November 11 by Goodwin
j7n Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Google just switched to a simplified style for search results in New Moon. It likely is based on my user agent or perhaps other properties. The font is large, the page displays faster, but it lack navigation to a specific page of results with only a Next link showing. 1

But connection to Y! is OK via myPal on XP (or on Galaxy smartphone). No problem with Gmail. ---------- 11/13/2025 Problem solved today, in NewMoon first, then Serpent. - Yahoo Connection Help page -> "Yahoo account locked" page - SMS sent to smartphone = 6-digit code - "Create new password"... click on "Later" button The connection was reestablished quickly (without changing the password). It likely is based on my user agent I can confirm; it's a "less heavy" G-Search iteration, probably more gentle to older/under-resourced H/W ; below, a glimpse of what an Image Search looks like: Should you wish to revert to the "full-blown" G-Search implementation, targeting so called "recent" web engines, just use a SSUAO for Google: general.useragent.override.google.com;Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; rv:140.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/140.0 And then, above image search will turn into:
Strife Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Hi @roytam1, is there any chance you can build a x64 version of NewMoon 26 ? There is an "official" Pale Moon 26.5.0 x64 build, but most sites cannot make a secure connection and showing this message "This Connection is Untrusted".
j7n Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I have changed the user agent and get big Google again now. Another downside of the new lightweight Google is that I can't see the target URL where I am about to go in the status bar. All URLs go through Google for spying but they show the real url until one clicks on the link. I also found that I need the page zoom one notch down with the new big one.
