legacyfan Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 I'm buying a new optiplex 9010 with an i7-3770 cpu 1tb hardrive and 8gbs of ram (and it comes with windows 10) and I was wondering if there where any tips on how one might be able to remove all the unneeded features in it (eg: telemetry uneeded programs e.t.c) if anyone has good tips on how to remove these annoyances it would be much appreciated (it also has options to use older windows versions if needed)
Tripredacus Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Hardware firewall has been my best performing option. Also makes it so I don't have to tool around in the OS changing a bunch of things. 3
XPerceniol Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Hello and nice day, @Tripredacus Do you mean the one on the router? 1
Tripredacus Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 However you manage a firewall I suppose it doesn't matter where it resides. But having it on the network edge is better since you can manage it for all interfaces and not just one computer. 1

Get yourself a decent thinclient and a mPCIe adapter to add a second network jack and have it act as your internet router instead of plugging the internet into a regular store-bought router. Then install pfBlockerNG and one of the feeds is Crazy Max's Microsoft Telemetry, you can add this to your blocking repository. The benefit of doing it this way is any other computer on your network will be forced to abide by these rules. The next benefit is that if you get a new computer, upgrade, or add machines, these rules will always be in place without you having to manually configure them. You may want to fine tune certain things on the OS itself but this in large will help a lot of the snooping from taking place without having to lift a finger. 1

HarryTri Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Quote best way to remove spying on windows 10? The only sure way is to not use them at all. There are ways to fight telemetry (e.g. O&O shutup Windows 10 - a helpful program) but you can never be sure that your system isn't "leaking". 1
shelby Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 (edited) I wonder if the windows 10 will spy after the end of their official support Edited January 4, 2023 by shelby 1
EAZY BLACK Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 It will till a new ssl /tls update releases and break https , like in windows 7 you need to install root certs update or when microsoft spy domain changes A good way to stop spying is to set telemetry to basic only and delete some uwp apps using powershell 1
