Jaguarek62
Hi, I wanted to run some very old program, so I setup virtual machine on vmware workstation 16 with the host being windows 8.1 unfortunately my windows 98 SE and Windows ME both are giving very weird kernel32 issues. I heard that it can me cpu related. Windows 98 does not boot, windows me boots to desktop albeit very broken one. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks
ByQuadCore
That happens because the VME instructions in AMD Zen and Intel 11th Gen+ are broken. Possibly because 32Bit operating system support was dropped starting with these architectures. A Simple fix for this can be found here, works just fine: https://github.com/JHRobotics/patcher9x/releases/
Dweiwin
You can also use 86Box & PCem for Windows 9x virtualization, they work on AMD Zen and Intel Tiger Late+.
