Back away from antagonistic political discussion please guys.
That is not allowed here.
Rule 2b.
Topics devoted to political or religious debate, unless technology related, are prohibited. MSFN is a technology forum and both political and religious debates have caused many problems and distractions in the past. Political or religious links in signatures or polite, courteous comments in non-political or non-religious topics are allowed, but we cannot allow any topics in which the sole purpose is to debate political or religious issues.
:)

I totally agree! Following the rules is important and necessary. Actually, and obviously, my statement was meant as a historical classification and motivation. Therefore, non-political and non-religious! Is that not allowed, either? Anyway, all has been said! Discussion finished from my side! And, thanks for your hint! :)

PS: Although it was not political motivated, I corrected one of my posts by cross-lining one word! :) To be on the safe side here!  If I have to delete anything else, please, let me know! I certainly don't want to break the rules!

Even tired thinking causes toxic substances to accumulate in the brainhttps://newsrnd.com/tech/2022-08-11-even-tired-thinking-causes-toxic-substances-to-accumulate-in-the-brain.SyxoRyoMRc.html

Even thinking tired, but fatigue is not an illusion created by the brain to switch to more rewarding activities, as was hypothesized: it is a real alarm signal to preserve one's functions, since intense mental activity prolonged for several hours causes potentially toxic substances to accumulate in an area of the brain known as the prefrontal cortex. This was stated by a group of researchers from the University of Salpêtrière in Paris, who published the results obtained in the journal Current Biology and who advises not to make important decisions when you are fatigued: in these circumstances, in fact, the brain tends to prefer options. that offer quick rewards with little effort.

Researchers led by Antonius Wiehler used magnetic resonance (MR) spectroscopy to monitor brain activity over the course of a working day.

The signs of fatigue emerged only in the group engaged in more intense mental activities: these people had higher levels of a molecule called glutamate in the area of the prefrontal cortex.

The authors of the study, therefore, also based on the results of previous studies, affirm that it is the accumulation of glutamate that is responsible for the sense of fatigue, making cognitive control more difficult after a hard work day from a mental point of view.

"Our results show that cognitive work results in a real functional alteration", comments Mathias Pessiglione, one of the authors of the study, "so fatigue would be a signal that makes us stop working to preserve the integrity of brain functioning. Unfortunately - continues Pessiglione - I don't think there is a way to get around this limitation of our brain. I would recommend the old remedy: rest and sleep. In fact, there is a lot of evidence that indicates that glutamate is eliminated during sleep ".

Same ... and I would understand of some off topic posts/thread (even my own threads) needed to be closed entirely to abide by the rules. Hard sometimes and why politics an religion are two topics usually avoided, unless on such forums to discuss those specific topics, but, even on those (dedicated) forums, they require close moderation and that would be unfair for a tech forum, the staff, and other members as that *would* be confusion and distraction from our purpose. That being said: We are lucky and grateful to have good moderation to maintain this forum ;)

I agree and sedentary lifestyle is unhealthy. Guilty, as I've far too much time on my hands and wallowing is not good and can't be good for the brain or the body. People work hard entire life then retire (sometimes for "good")

I don't know, sometimes focus too much on sleep rather than how to spend time awake constructively. Besides, begin awake and getting natural sun helps to produce more melatonin to repair for sleep.

That being said ... bedtimes is almost upon me and I accomplished nothing today. Yeah, I'm working on it. Days go by and I lose track if not for date and time on bottom right corner of computer. I have no calendar and can't use alarm clock anymore ... another story.

I've not been keeping up and only 1 or 2 days go by and I'm lost here ... will try to catch up in the AM ... reading somewhere discussion about Chrome but can't seem to find it now. Oh well!

I'm relaxed, but weary of things. Ugh.

Sorry.

the good life...

Plato posits that the good life is the state of happiness. One gets the good life by having a harmonious inner self where reason is the master of our pride and our desires. One doesn’t need external goods for happiness. The reason for this is that the pleasures of external goods are fleeting. Only the higher, closest pleasures, most real pleasures are necessary. Reason is this pleasure. The role of reason is central by recognizing the role of the good the form of the good. Few will attain this level. These people will be leaders in the perfect state. This may not be the case if the state is corrupted by the rule of the rich or democracy.

Epicurus definition of the life that would bring happiness is a life that is free from disturbance. A life free of disturbance is a life that is a life where pleasure is maximized and pain is minimized. Epicurus says you need external things to reach a happy life because he acknowledges that there is a certain level of material comfort that is required in his philosophy to be happy. The role of reason is recognizing the things that need to be in one’s life. The knowledge one needs for happiness is the nature of necessary versus unnecessary desires, the nature of the gods, the nature of death, and a life of contemplation and science. Anyone can have this life. A simple life with a few friends, not a political existence, because this is a life that doesn’t require much strife.

"Life’s race-course is fixed; Nature has only a single path and that path is run but once, and to each stage of existence has been allotted its own appropriate quality ... It is not by muscle, speed, or physical dexterity that great things are achieved, but by reflection, force of character, and judgment; in these qualities old age is usually not … poorer, but is even richer.... death should be held of no account! For clearly death is negligible if it utterly annihilates the soul... with the old [death] is the result of ripeness. To me, indeed, the thought of this “ripeness” for death is so pleasant, that the nearer I approach death the more I feel like one who is in sight of land at last and is about to anchor in his home port after a long voyage.... old age is the final scene … in life’s drama, from which we ought to escape when it grows wearisome and, certainly, when we have had our fill."
Marcus Tullius Cicero

Our life is short and deplorable, and there is no salvation from death for man, and they do not know who to release from hell. We were born accidentally and afterwards will be unchanged: the breath in our nostrils is smoke, and the word is a spark in the movement of our heart. When it fades, the body will return to dust, and the spirit will dissipate like liquid air; and our name will be forgotten with time, and no one will remember our deeds. Our life will pass like a trace of a cloud, and it will dissipate like a mist, dispersed by the rays of the sun and weighed down by its warmth. Our life is the passage of the shadow, and there is no return from death for the seal is set, and no one returns. They that despise wisdom and instruction are unhappy, and their hope is vain, and labors are barren, and their deeds are vile. But the fruit of good works is glorious.

27 times the speed of sound: a huge asteroid on its way to Earth's orbit

The asteroid, traveling at 27 times the speed of sound, will come within about 4.3 million km of Earth. This is eight times greater than the average distance between Earth and the Moon. By cosmic standards, this is a tiny gap.

The US space agency is tracking a "potentially dangerous" space rock, 13 to 28 meters in size, which is expected to pass by Earth (tomorrow  - 12.08) at a speed of 33,012 km/h.

I’m an ear doctor – you’ve been cleaning your ears all WRONG

HERE: https://www.the-sun.com/health/4143435/specialist-never-use-ear-buds-tricks/

IT'S incredibly satisfying to clean your ears with cotton buds.

But if your parents haven't already warned you - experts say using ear buds could be dangerous.

Before we delve into why, lets look at why ear wax should actually be left untouched.

Ear wax isn't a sign that you're unclean or dirty - it is completely natural.

It is produced by the cells lining your outer ear and ear canal and is made up of a natural oily substance produced in the sebaceous glands.

This natural oil gets mixed up with dirt, sweat and dead skin cells, which is what comes out when you use a cotton bud to clean your ears.

Ear wax acts as a barrier and protects against viruses and harmful bacteria from entering the ear canal.

The ears are normally self-cleaning.

But if you do have a build up of wax which is making your ears feel full, you have earache or you're struggling to hear, then you may want to clear the ears out.

Dr Jerry Lin, an ear, nose, and throat specialist at the University of Louisville, said that sometimes you might have to visit the doctor.

But there are things you can do at home - which do not involve ear buds.

He explained that picking out a little bit of wax from the front of the ear is okay but that you should never put a cotton bud in there.

He explained: "Q-Tips are a bad idea.

"They take up much of the canal diameter. Therefore, using them packs the wax deeper into the ear canal.

"In the worst-case scenario, the wax could be packed against the eardrum and possibly even create an eardrum perforation."

This could potentially cause hearing loss, earache, itchiness in the ear or a buzzing in the ear (tinnitus). ...

...

SAFE EAR CLEANING SOLUTIONS:

1. Ear drops ...

2. Baking soda solution ...

3. Olive oil ...
