I think now there is also version 1.4 available for downloading on https://legacyupdate.net/ link and also on this https://github.com/kirb/LegacyUpdate/releases link.

Yes, that's correct.

And v1.4 includes a great new feature:

"Adds an optional feature to enable receiving Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 updates on Windows XP SP3."

Thanks @CIACIACIACIACIACIA and @mina7601! Although I only updated the download link a few days ago, there is already a new version 1.4 with an interesting new feature. Ok! I will therefore update the link directly in my post. :)

I want to ask a question when i try to update with legacy update a message is displayed saying that "the server can't be reached" what is this?

Check your network and firewall settings! Maybe, an intervention of other security programs on your system? Or it might be a temporary server connection failure. smilie_denk_24.gif

Hello @CIACIACIACIACIACIA! Have you been able to solve your server connection problems in the meantime? :dubbio:

Can WU/MU by using the patch + proxy method and WU/MU by using the nginx method working together on the same system by fixing wuaueng.dll? The two ways patch of the wuaueng.dll aren't the same.

I don't think it is a good idea to use patch + proxy and nginx method together on the same system. These methods weren't meant to work in coexistence. Some of the listed methods can coexist but unfortunately not all of them. You will probably have to choose one of these two methods. :)

Legacy Update - An alternative to Microsoft or Windows Update

Legacy Update is a community-run resource to help you fix the Windows Update service on earlier versions of Windows. More information and instructions can be found on the homepage of Legacy Update.
Here is the link: https://legacyupdate.net/ link.gif
And this is the download link of the program which is needed to be installed: https://content.legacyupdate.net/legacyupdate/LegacyUpdate-1.4.1.exe link.gif
Some screenshots of this service:

I didn't try this service, no need for me at the moment, but as far as I read in different comments, it works properly with Windows XP and other OSs. Thanks to @maile3241 for the hint!

Cheers, AstroSkipper matrix.gif

The last days, the website of Legacy Update had an certificate error and couln't be accessed. This seems to be fixed now.

@AstroSkipper Hello, there's a new version of Legacy Update available: version 1.5! Includes this fix: "Fixes crash on launch when opening Legacy Update setup on Windows XP SP3.". And also has a new improvement: "While updating root certificates, Legacy Update will now also enable the TLS v1.1 and v1.2 protocols, which are present but disabled by default in Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, as well as in Windows XP with a POSReady 2009 update. This is an additional fix for websites not loading in Internet Explorer and other apps that use the Windows built-in networking functionality.".  Available in https://legacyupdate.net/ and https://github.com/kirb/LegacyUpdate/releases

Yes, Legacy Update includes Vista in the supported OSes, which means it can get updates with Legacy Update as well.

@verta You wrote that Legacy Update 1.4.1 crashes for you when you open the setup installer. Can you test version 1.5 as well, and see if the crash persists there?

Edited by mina7601
1.6 fixed the crash, no need to test.
