They need a crashlog no the error code because is this information is not sufficient to trace the source of the error

7B BSOD is inaccessible storage device.

you can get this BSOD from both an AHCI controller and USB3.

I recommend using the XP Integral Edition's Optional Patch Integrator Script using options 1,3,4,5,7 and doing a fresh XP install.

Once you have XP installed and running we can start debugging from there.

1.  I have not 2nd PC, can not do lan debugging.

2. XP SP3 installe

(1) Good  ----- acpi.sys(6666 - 2021.8.28 - daniel_k, diderius6)

(2) Good  ----- acpi.sys v2.0(5.1.2600.7777.4)--("DowncoreControl: one"and"SMT Mode:Close"in Bios)

(3) AMD SATA/AHCI driver v1.1 is work. (zone94.com-SP3-X86-2021.12.19)

(4) STOP A5 BSOD ----- acpi.sys v2.0(AcpiV4freeandDebug.7z)--("DowncoreControl: Auto"or "SMT Mode:Auto"in Bios)

(5) STOP 7B BSOD ----- acpi.sys v2.0(ACPI2.0_DDB_Fix_7z)

Hello, I'm the author of this MDL thread, I'm tired of trying so many things without knowing exactly what's happening behind the scene while getting this 0x0000007B error.

I want to be able to get Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 running but after posting this MDL thread, @George King sent me a PM and asked me to try his Windows XP image, which I did.

First I faced the 0x000000A5 error after setup reboot, then I applied this fix, the 0x000000A5 went away but then the 0x0000007B error appeared, this is exactly the same scenario that I got during my Windows 7 setup attempts.

After reading some posts of this thread I saw that debugging Windows XP during boot may be possible and I think it is the best way to precisely identify the issue, I'm currently running Windows 11 on my laptop and I can connect it to my desktop using an Ethernet cable.

Am I able to debug this error without having a working installed Windows XP? I've never been able to go past the setup reboot because of this 0x0000007B error.

Even Win10 bit 32 you cant install on the MSI z690 A, I have this board also.

But with the files from Ramsey you can:cheerleader: install XP SP3 there.

I test also the Msi pro z690-a ddr4 board with 12900k cpu for XP SP3.

Only with the very first Bios

I succeed to boot XP SP3 (only after CMOS reset).

On the PS/2 slot keyboard and mouse do not work together, only one each.

This would explain the 7B BSOD.

Oh nice catch, I'll try again with George's XP ISO and see how it goes.

Thank you, I didn't tried with the first BIOS (7D25v10), first I tried the latest (7D25v13) then I downgraded to 7D25v11, have you tried those or did you never upgraded ?

Also thanks for the link, if I'm still stuck with the 0x0000007B error after replacing the correct ACPI.sys I'll try to downgrade BIOS then use this edition.

I hope this will also fix my Windows 7 issue.

@George King's ACPI.sys fix is working ! No more 0x0000007B and I successfully installed his ISO, Windows XP is now booting properly and I did not BIOS downgrade, still on 7D25v13. maybe the fixed ACPI.sys I'm using for Windows 7 has issues ? I used this one.

It is OK, service device for Windows 10 only, it doesnt require any driver

Just ignore or install manually from Chipset Driver by Intel (i think need special adapted to XP modded version)

I also want to report that this latest ACPI.SYS did not fix the reboot issue on the B250M-Pro4 (screen goes black on shutdown...restart from XP menu, but never reboots).

maybe you were accidentally using 32bit acpi.sys on 64bit windows 7? not sure.

Seems like we fixed it under 7 too as it was probably caused by corrupted acpi.sys. Using my patched (resigned too) it worked
