I will not be able to offer DRM assistance as all of the "workarounds" that I have found are basically "illegal" and I will not be the one to publicly disclose those "workarounds".

There are several UA extensions on the Chrome Web Store, I suggest you start there first for your UA needs.

@to all

I would like to give some advice to all MSFN members regarding trackers.
I would advise you to put a list in UBO dedicated for blocking CNAME trackers:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/AdguardTeam/cname-trackers/master/combined_disguised_trackers.txt

Which unfortunately are not stopped even by the latest versions of browsers.

Hello everyone.:hello:
If any MSFN members are interested in doing some testing, I have found a website that uses these types of trackers.

Thank you for your attention.

Some tests and explanations at the link below:

https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/ublock-a-lean-and-fast-blocker.365273/page-251#post-3065043

The CNAME tracker of the website is also taken with the EASYPRIVACY list.
Of course it would be too easy to assume that the 3 lists are able to block all CNAME trackers, especially in chrome-based browsers.
I hope this is interesting.

:hello:

P.S.

I don't understand what you need.

To recreate the tests you just have to open the web site with the browser + UBO (and of course know how to use it...a little bit).
If you need images that can be enlarged just write, and since in Italy it's late evening I will consider any requests probably in my day tomorrow.

Good evening.

If possible, please create something like a "DNSQuerySniffer" or "TcpLogView" screencap of a specific web site (and provide the URL) of what internet traffic there is with the CNAME "blocked" and another screencap of what internet traffic there is with the CNAME "not blocked".

Hello, guys ..

I've been trying to understand this, myself (and I'm pretty clueless tbh) but that's not important.

This falls in line with a posting I made about secure dns and no matter what I do its not secure even though I've changed the settings to not use my ISPs dns; but I guess this might be it, I'm not sure I get this so hopefully we'll know more soon.

https://coredns.io/plugins/hosts/

I would rather not have to pay if possible. I chedked this site and I'm not sure.

Characterizing CNAME cloaking-based tracking

https://blog.apnic.net/2020/08/04/characterizing-cname-cloaking-based-tracking/

Quote

What is CNAME cloaking-based tracking?

A CNAME record is a type of Domain Name System (DNS) record that maps an alias name to a true or canonical domain name. Using CNAME records has become an emerging technique in web tracking to hide usual tracking domains that are blocked by browser filter lists and extensions.

Overview of CNAME cloaking-based tracking Figure 1 — Overview of CNAME cloaking-based tracking.

Tracking providers ask their clients to delegate a subdomain for data collection and link it to an external domain using a CNAME record.

We define CNAME cloaking-based tracking as using CNAME records to disguise requests to a third-party tracker as first-party ones (see Figure 1). For example, when end users access the example.com website, it actually embeds a first-party subdomain named a.example.com, which points to a tracking provider, ad.com via the CNAME x.ad.com. The tracking provider ad.com thus tracks activities of end users on the website, example.com.
