markgoodar Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 Hello, I am looking for an update list for Windows 8 6.2.9200 (but not for 8.1). So that after their integration / installation, Windows Update will either find nothing or only propose a newer version of Windows. 2
Teeotsa Posted August 31, 2021 Posted August 31, 2021 Maybe install all updates and then get ur update files from "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution" folder. Other option Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > View Installed Updates

Does Windows Update even work for a fresh install of Windows 8 RTM in the age of SHA-2 requirements? (For Win7 RTM, the update agent and SP1 must be manually installed first.) If it does, then your task is simple. If it doesn’t, then someone with an old installation needs to make a list. Of course the list will end with January 2016 updates.

Well there was a recent post saying that the update agent must be manually installed to get Windows Update working for Windows 8: https://msfn.org/board/topic/177788-after-fresh-w8-install-cumulativerollup-updates-enough/?do=findComment&comment=1203269 (SP1 for Win7 did not include SHA-2 support, but is nevertheless needed to get Windows Update working now.) 1

erpdude8 Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 (edited) indeed. what Vistapocalypse is simply saying that only the update agent (or windows update client) on Win8 needs to updated with certain updates in order for windows update to function correctly (or it will ask to install a newer update agent if no win8 updates were installed when attempting to check for updates) and yes SHA-2 support was built-in Win8.x Edited December 5, 2021 by erpdude8
