Dixel
Something's wrong , Win 8.1 should have it's own drivers for these devices . Is it a clean install ?
Icepick
I have also included the drivers from driver easy in the clean install and the touchpad has a default driver called "HID compliant touchpad", but it doesn't work with my touchpad unfortunately.
Dixel
I think you need to remove all drivers and let the default Windows driver do it's job . EDIT : I mean all drivers for this device. Edited July 9, 2021 by Dixel
Icepick
do you mean ALL including network drivers and stuff?

jaclaz
There are a lot of issues with Elan touchpads on Asus machines around. You can try the https://ivanrf.com/en/asus-smart-gesture-problem-with-windows-installer/ ASUS Precision Touchpad driver (scroll down to the "Ideas" section) Cannot say specifically on your machine, but on some you need the Intel Serial IO (I2C) driver installed BEFORE the above. On Windows 7 it is simply not possible due to the I2C bus not being supported: https://www.win-raid.com/t3802f52-Request-Win-compatible-Intel-I-O-drivers-for-the-Touchpad-of-ASUS-Notebooks.html but 8.1 should have no problem with that. See also here (at least on some non-Asus machines newer Intel drivers don't work but older ones seemingly do): https://forums.techguy.org/threads/packard-bell-win-8-1-touchpad-not-working.1239971/ Or you could try a non-Asus driver (it may be tricky to find a "pure Elan" one). jaclaz Edited July 9, 2021 by jaclaz

The Io driver thing says that my computer is not supported. Do you have another solution? Thanks for helping anyways. jaclaz
It is hard to say. The PTP driver has the 1200 id, according to the given page, and having a quick look at the AsusPTPfilter.inf the actual ID in it is %ASUS_INPUT_DEVICE.DeviceDesc%=AsusPTP_Inst, HID\ELAN1200&Col02 ;ELAN PTP 15' so it should "take". But I don't know if that id refers to PS/2 or an I2C bus, if the latter, having a valid driver for the I2C is probably a prerequisite, and as well it is possible that some parts of the (stupid) installer are "strictly" Windows 10 and don't work/run in 8.1. From the ASUS official page a page I found that I mistook for the official one, but that is in reality one of those crappy third party drivers sites that often have incorrect information, it seems like they do support officially Windows 8 and 8.1: [Link Removed] and since they seem to support also Windows 7, then your touchpad must be not I2C (but rather PS/2) I am confused, you started this thread about not finding on Asus sites appropriate drivers, but they seem to be there for the x541ua model jaclaz Edited July 11, 2021 by jaclaz Removed link to site with wrong info and corrected the info
