Re:  Firefox 45ESR

Yesterday's 2022-9-24 Firefox 45ESR (firefox-45.9.34-20220924-cf157e5f8-win32-sse)

was ok. Today's 2022-9-25 Firefox 45ESR provokes the attached error report:

drwtsn32.log

PS: There is the same placeholder icon for all the buttons.

@roytam1 I noticed on GitHub you have a repository named "gecko27-vc8". Did you have any success building it yet?

and by the way I pushed win2000 branch with changes ported from pm26-win2000.

and result binary runs on neptune. (I didn't further test the build)

The uBlock Origin legacy "flex" bug reported and discussed at length here in this thread (with fix provided by @AstroSkipper - thanks :)) has finally hit upstream, with the release of latest Pale Moon 31.3.0:

https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=28882

Thing is, I had already applied the workaround mentioned by @Tomaso more than two years ago:

DkkthZQ.jpg

(I didn't like the "new" uBO default fonts (Inter and Metropolis woff2) after:

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock-for-firefox-legacy/commit/62d5ac43df6e713c3fbc8416653e9013ef6ce681

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock-for-firefox-legacy/commit/930038cecbb6e8acf6484587bfe1a8bf0b2e3a59

, hence I followed what

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock-for-firefox-legacy/commit/013b64a3e3733d72da09369ba0d63c684ac1a9df

advised ;) ; see also: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/issues/1044 )

so I did not experience the "bug" even when I upgraded my Serpent 52 copy from the (2022-08-05) build to the (2022-08-24) one I'm currently running... Who would have thought of that ;) ...

BTW, Moonchild has now reverted upstream issue #1986 believed to have been the cause for that uBO-legacy "glitch":

Very good find! ssupercool2.gif Thanks for your deeper insight and information about the latest developments! prof.gif You are definitely the expert of repos and commits. I've just tested this setting of uiStyles and it works perfectly. Now, I understand why you didn't observe this issue in your browsers. :P When I was thinking about a solution for this glitch some weeks ago, I also looked in the advanced settings of uBlock Origin. Unfortunately, I didn't pursue this further because I didn't look at the individual options more closely due to the fact that I didn't know their syntax, either. A look at this page would have greatly simplified my search for a solution: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Advanced-settings link.gif

uiStyles

Default: unset.

uBO 1.28.0 and above.

Allow bypassing uBO's default CSS styles in case they are causing issues to specific users. It is the responsibility of the user to ensure the value of uiStyles contains valid CSS property declarations. uBO will assign the value to document.body.style.cssText.

For example, in the case of the issue #1044, one could set uiStyles to font-family: sans-serif to force uBO to the system font for its user interface. Another example is issue #1254 wherein uBO v1.30.0 will be possible to adjust width of popup panels.

Anyway, we have now different solutions to solve this glitch of uBlock Origin's dashboard page, and I have extended my knowledge about CSS.

If issue #1986 is, hopefully, reverted too in @roytam1's UXP tree, in coming weekend's UXP releases we shouldn't have any such "glitch" to take care of ;) (unless upstream issue #1986 comes back in a revised iteration - I couldn't help noticing Moonchild mentioning nothing about uBO's dashboard menu going awry, his reason for PM's OOB (out-of-band) release being "severe usability issues on several websites" :dubbio:) ...

Who can  open the website above AND click away the ACCEPT & CONTINUE button to gain  FULL access to this website with  the latest versions of New Moon (NM28) or Serpent ?

Please, note if you use the SSE or IA32 version or did any

I have some cheering news for you, after updating to the latest version of Serpent (2022-09-03), "ACCEPT & CONTINUE" button is now clickable on the website!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since the old problem is back there is no more cheering news for us:

The "ACCEPT & CONTINUE" button is no longer clickable on the website and there is no full access to the site.

The same problem on some other websites.

I've made new modified versions of uBlock Origin Legacy. All is described here:

This xpi file has already been updated with regards to its filter lists and is now the basis of my new, modified version of uBlock Origin Legacy.
Here is the complete changelog of what I have modified:

  • The file dashboard.css fixed as described in my post "uBlock Origin Legacy modified by @AstroSkipper - Part 1".
  • The file assets.json replaced by the most recent one.
  • Missing filter lists in the folders thirdparties and ublock added.
  • Existing filter lists in the folders thirdparties and ublock updated.

Note, that there are two items added to the lists pane, which will not work in the Legacy version:

  • AdGuard URL Tracking Protection
  • Block Outsider Intrusion into LAN

Also, before uninstalling the previous version, make sure you have a backup  of your settings before deleting '$PROFILEDIRECTORY$/extension-data/ublock0.sqlite'.

I didn't remove anything from 'about:config'.
