My Browser Builds (Part 3)

Recommended Posts

Today I couldn't log in to google or youtube:

2021274.jpg.d4751afca97db758e0e6de44182a9598.jpg

I seem to have fixed it by changing general.useragent.compatMode.version from 68 to 77.

I also had to change general.useragent.override.youtube.com twice today as the palemoon agent did work but now does not.

I also tried to play a bitchute video and no video will play, just a white page with the icon moving.

https://www.bitchute.com/video/nlBMxTrkCIjx/

2021273.thumb.jpg.151664fb30f9b988431e4ab927f365e4.jpg

Bitchute embeds play but only half the video shows and the controls are hidden.

2021276.jpg.aa8a49c996aad00d81e2e95bd7cd5dbe.jpg

2021275.jpg.147de0d12918745128ae6761dbcd3ae0.jpg

Both these issues seemed to show up together.

I tried a new profile and old working profile but no dice. Chrome works on bitchute but I only use chrome in absolute emergencies to check a site and eliminate possibilities.

NM 28 (latest) and win 7 here

to the Basilisk-specific version 1.7.8.2019.10.27 ?

https://github.com/Aris-t2/ClassicThemeRestorer/releases/tag/1.7.8.2019

Unbeknownst to me, Aris-t2 has uploaded and archived the FINAL version of CTR, v1.7.8:

https://github.com/Aris-t2/ClassicThemeRestorer/releases/tag/1.7.8

v1.7.8.2019.10.27 was a "preview" and has been installed here (St52) since it was first made available ;) ; it simply still works as expected; no prompt to update it to v1.7.8 was ever shown to me, but I just manually did that, and all went OK; so should you !

TL;DR: All Serpent 52.9.0 users who wish to modify the default Australis GUI must install (or upgrade to) the last/final version of CTR, v1.7.8

Later edit : Please read below :P

While we're at it, your AOM screenshot "smells" of a previous Firefox profile transplant, which is something I have always strongly discouraged Firefox52-migrants to do when switching over to Serpent 52/55...

ADB Helper ?
Valence ?

Do you have any need for these two?

(Firefox) Greasemonkey 3.11 should be better substituted with
https://addons.basilisk-browser.org/search/?terms=greasemonkey

(which should direct you to greasemonkey-3.31.4-pm_forkBranch.xpi)

Old YouTube: No longer works :(

In general, if Basilisk-specific updated/forked versions of old Firefox extensions exist, I would advise St52 users to switch to them; my 2c, of course...

Autism really sucks.:thumbdown

It does, particularly for the sufferers; but we shouldn't leave the impression that everyone on the autism spectrum is a narcissistic jerk like we-all-know-who.

When did consumers become satisfied with labeling any "weekly" as 'stable' but reserve the 'beta' label for "nightly"?  Why should any of us have to update our browser "weekly"?  When did the consumer become satisfied with "It's Saturday, time to update my browser" ???

For a while, I was updating browsers weekly, but more out of fear that we-know-who would do to @roytam1 what they did to @feodor2, and I wanted to have my own copy of the last versions he created. Now that it seems Roytam will continue to the best of his ability regardless of them, I only update when I need a new feature or fix.

But I agree with the sentiment, and I'm afraid that once again, the fault lies with Google. Can you think of any other product willing to brand its latest product "version 95?" Well, other than Windows 95, of course, but that was named after the year it came out - it's not as if Micro$oft couldn't get it right in their first 94 tries! (Unfortunately Mozilla has copied Google in this, along with so many other things. I remember the "good ol' days" when browser versions had decimal points, like every other software product....)

To be fair, he may have done that long ago, when such a transplant worked rather well, then just never bothered to remove extensions that became obsolete.

<OT>

Said so very very well; @Mathwiz... please don't assume all people that are struggling with mental/cognitive health issues/disabilities are all mean spirited people. Its more about how those of us that struggle outwardly (may perhaps) take it out on other people and chose to make others suffer as a way to cope. Trust me ... and I'm saddened to have to say such, but being on the "Spectrum" often times reveals said persons true personality and lack of compassion and empathy; but that doesn't mean bitterness and self hatred can't be changed. First hand: I can say, life has dealt some of us a 'bad hand' ... but how we chose to play that hand in life is what counts towards making the best to becoming a human being that others can still find endearing. People can change their behaviors, but only if they (truly) desire to do so.

... I am a bit perplexed myself, now... I initially recommended v1.7.8.2019.10.27 (pre-release/preview) for Serpent 52 users, then, after the discovery of v1.7.8, I recommended the latter... BUT, release date of the former is 22 Jan 2019, while of the latter is 24 Oct 2018; it appears that "2019" contain changes not documented in the repo's code, because

https://github.com/Aris-t2/ClassicThemeRestorer/compare/1.7.8.2019...1.7.8

=> There isn’t anything to compare. 1.7.8.2019 and 1.7.8 are identical

But I have verified the "2019" versions do contain the change below

Quote

removed the option "add-on manager version number"
Basilisk 2019 and Waterfox don't need this option, because version number is active by default

option which is still left in v1.7.8 (but switching it ON/OFF doesn't affect latest Serpent 52); in any case, if you're on v1.7.8.2019.10.27, you probably can safely stay there... Apologies for unnecessary alarm... :blushing:

Confirmed here, using Serpent 52.9.0; it would appear their web player has been optimised for recent browser engines only, because player-related scripts they serve make UXP choke :}, due to unsupported regexp:

Yes thank you I was able to go back to general.useragent.compatMode.version 68 and change google.com agent to get back in.

The bitchute problem seems to be a tough one. I tried user agents for bitchute and cloudflare with no results.

I'm afraid this it out of my range of experience. Hope someone can figure it out.

thanks

I did find some things:

https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/gun/gun.js

			if(k && v){ at.node = state_ify(at.node, k, s, d) } // handle soul later.
				else {
					as.seen.push(cat = {it: d, link: {}, todo: g? [] : Object.keys(d).sort().reverse(), path: (to.path||[]).slice(), up: at}); // Any perf reasons to CPU schedule this .keys( ?
					at.node = state_ify(at.node, k, s, cat.link);
					!g && cat.todo.length && to.push(cat);
					// ---------------
					var id = as.seen.length;
					(as.wait || (as.wait = {}))[id] = '';
					tmp = (cat.ref = (g? d : k? at.ref.get(k) : at.ref))._;
					(tmp = (d && (d._||'')['#']) || tmp.soul || tmp.link)? resolve({soul: tmp}) : cat.ref.get(resolve, {run: as.run, /*hatch: 0,*/ v2020:1, out:{get:{'.':' '}}}); // TODO: BUG! This should be resolve ONLY soul to prevent full data from being loaded. // Fixed now?
					//setTimeout(function(){ if(F){ return } console.log("I HAVE NOT BEEN CALLED!", path, id, cat.ref._.id, k) }, 9000); var F; // MAKE SURE TO ADD F = 1 below!
					function resolve(msg, eve){
						var end = cat.link['#'];
						if(eve){ eve.off(); eve.rid(msg) } // TODO: Too early! Check all peers ack not found.
						// TODO: BUG maybe? Make sure this does not pick up a link change wipe, that it uses the changign link instead.
						var soul = end || msg.soul || (tmp = (msg.$$||msg.$)._||'').soul || tmp.link || ((tmp = tmp.put||'')._||'')['#'] || tmp['#'] || (((tmp = msg.put||'') && msg.$$)? tmp['#'] :

Also if I delete node div#loader-container the page is hidden underneath but the player looks unskinned and the comments are not loaded.

div#loader-container style="display: block;"

Deleting this node^^ only works once, when you reload the page, it wont reveal the page and the "block" part is gone when it reloads.

<div id="loader-container"><div id="loader"><ul><li></li><li></li><li></li><li></li><li></li><li></li></ul></div></div>

This code it loads looks like its missing stuff

maybe this is a clue?

No way to watch videos on bitchute with all uxp versions of Roytam1. The only way that works is to use the Palemoon or Basilisk "PmPlayer" add-on which works well with bitchute to view videos using Serpent 52 and Newmoon 28.:unsure:

Unfortunately; there is now way to watch msn videos on any UXP browser (Serpent and Newmoon - as wel as FF52.9.1 for that matter) at all now ... just a blank page. The only way I can watch videos lately is with 360 on XP Sp3. Its just sad actually tbh. I always hope Roy will come up with a miricle. If anybody can pull it off ... I trust him. I tried every user agent and the only one that even comes close (for me), is:

user_pref("general.oscpu.override", "Windows NT 10.0");
user_pref("general.useragent.compatMode.firefox", false);
user_pref("general.useragent.compatMode.gecko", false);
user_pref("general.useragent.compatMode.version", "62");
user_pref("general.useragent.override", "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win32; x86; rv:62.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/62.0");

Just saying is all :unsure:

Unfortunately; there is now way to watch msn videos on any UXP browser (Serpent and Newmoon - as wel as FF52.9.1 for that matter) at all now ... just a blank page. The only way I can watch videos lately is with 360 on XP Sp3. Its just sad actually tbh. I always hope Roy will come up with a miricle. If anybody can pull it off ... I trust him. I tried every user agent and the only one that even comes close (for me), is:

user_pref("general.oscpu.override", "Windows NT 10.0");
user_pref("general.useragent.compatMode.firefox", false);
user_pref("general.useragent.compatMode.gecko", false);
user_pref("general.useragent.compatMode.version", "62");
user_pref("general.useragent.override", "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win32; x86; rv:62.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/62.0");

Just saying is all :unsure:
