My Browser Builds (Part 3)

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Need some help hopefully to guide me about what browser I should choose between New Moon 27 and New Moon 28!!

Due to the turmoil between Fedorov and Toobin over MyPal, I  realize I will have to change as I don,t expect anything to be happening in regards to updates any time soon,,

I do not understand the differences between the 2 versions of New Moon, (27 & 28)..so I would like some input in which one I should choose, hopefully with your reasoning .Don,t really want to DL both of them to test out)!!...Is there a big difference beteen the 2???

I am just a general user with no  demand for special heavy programs....Have a I3 Intel Processor with SSE  3.07GHz and 3GB Ram..

Thanks for your help,

It all comes down to your personal preferences--I have experience with both NM27 and NM28.
If your focus is on compatibility and you want more sites to work well, NM28 is your best bet.
NM27 is faster overall (and will in some cases, including YouTube, serve 'mobile' sites that run better on the older engine), but not all sites work well in it.
However, there are optimized NM27 versions for every use case (Win32/Win64/SSE/IA-32), so it can run on anything that can run XP (which makes it the safest choice).
You would have to download LAV DLLs for audio/video playback and extract them to the NM27 file folder (refer back to the first page of this thread), and again Roy offers versions for all use cases.
Based on your specs NM28 should run fine, but NM27 would offer a performance boost.

The Pale Moon/Mypal sh*tstorm has reached reddit...

Mypal exe-files removed from github. Softpedia and majorgeeks among others have already removed Mypal.

Still working but will probably soon disappear...

You gave absolutely zero details that would assist anyone in trying to replicate.

I gave a link and screenshots of the button that doesnt work.

Am I missing something?

By the way, everyone, I apologize if I've made a bad impression with anything I've done or said. I wanted to stay quiet and simply remain a silent but appreciative observer, but after seeing the situation with Feodor I had to speak up.

Your contributions are great in my book. Keep on doing them.

Yes.  You have noticed that nobody replied because nobody can reply.

At bare minimum, I need to know what browser you are using - the screencap doesn't tell me that.

Second, though maybe of less importance, what OS are you running that browser from - the screencap doesn't tell me that.

Third, your link is taking me directly to a Google Login - can you provide a link that does not require me to log into Google?

You have to login to google forum to post. If you are already logged in, it will lead you to making a new post where the continue button is.

thanks

Thanks.

I do find it extremely ironic that my FIRST visit to the Mobile Mode crashed my web browser.

I had the console open and was comparing network traffic between Mobile and Desktop - bam, the Mobile Mode crashed my browser.

But I have been unable to duplicate the crash and the Mobile Mode definitely transfers smaller amounts of data - not sure if I'll default to it over the Desktop Mode as of yet though.

Definitely awesome that now I can bookmark which mode I want to use for the session.

Though I also observed that once a YouTube cookie was set, my Desktop Mode bookmark opened in Mobile Mode - but that could be a result from the Mobile Mode that crashed during my first visit.

Thanks again for the links!

I remember when YouTube still served up a mobile version of their site that would work even on older Win95-compatible browsers (like Firefox 2 and Opera 9/10). You could stream videos in .3gp format through VLC, directly from the YT servers. Sadly, as most if not all of us already know they discontinued the legacy compatibility, and their current mobile site is now geared more towards smartphones (though it will function well in sufficiently modern browsers, like New Moon, Serpent, and 360).

Speaking of which, the mobile site hasn't crashed for me in New Moon, but I have yet to test it in 360v12 (regular YouTube works fine). Back on NM28 and loving it...thank you for the links, @kwisomialbert!
(And thank you, @ArcticFoxie, for your fantastic 360 builds--rebuild 2 of 12.0.1247 is running like a champ! If you release any more 12 rebuilds I'll be glad to try them!)

Yes it happened with me the same...first load the youtube.com normally..let the page loads all..and after that paste the link of mobile mode and enter...tested on NM28 mypal and centaury and basilisk...works fine

Not sure if this is happening to anyone else, or if anybody will be able to replicate this, but I'm currently unable to add search engines to Serpent (52 or 55) or New Moon (27 or 28).
I'm sure this was an intentional move on MCP's part, breaking certain things to ensure that more people use the 'genuine articles'.

And now they've done it for the normal extensions on the PM site. I haven't checked the basilisk site yet, but expect it to be the same. Same thing on the basilisk site.

I wonder if the addon authors are aware.

That snake Trollbin going at it again...
