dmiranda
Hi, which version of canvasblocker is currently working in serpent52? I'm using 0.55 from firefox, but I wonder if a newer one could be tweaked to install AND works. There is also the one for basilisk by feodor (v 0.2) and may move to it. Thanks. Dr. Drill
8 hours ago, dmiranda said: which version of canvasblocker is currently working in serpent52? Hi. I use a powerful extension "Canvas Blocker" by Korbinian Kapsner. Latest version 1.5 (Jan 18, 2021). https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/releases To install, you need to open the file \canvasblocker-1.5-an+fx.xpi\manifest.json in the notepad and replace the string "strict_min_version": "68.0" to "strict_min_version": "52.0"
dmiranda
Thank you @Dr. Drill. I will try it thorughly. My first try (I go for the tightest thing, always :P) has not been successful. For example, being tight I cannot login to to MSFN. @Sampei.Nihira, what say you, fratelo? On 5/13/2021 at 3:27 AM, roytam1 said: actually zoom itself is kind-of china related BTW. Well, what is not China related, anyway?. The problem is never China (or Russia, or -do I dare to say, would they "legally" torture me for wondering so?- the USA). The issue at hand is: is it FOSS? Is it transparent? Can I check what you do? I look forward to see what your efforts on behalf of this small community will bring to a better future, @roytam1. Seriously. CAA provides up to v0.3.8-Release (Jetpack SDK): caa:addon/canvasblocker/versions whereas AMO currently lists versions up to v1.5 (WE, requires patching manifest.json to install in latest St52): https://addons.mozilla.org/el/firefox/addon/canvasblocker/versions/ (v1.5 presumed to be the very same one referenced above by @Dr. Drill ), with v0.5.5 included ; according to AMO listing, v0.5.9 should be the last to natively support Fx52 ... Thanks for this ; also for the tip on the "ViewImageInfo" pref ; sadly, site admins are becoming very cunning in protecting their images nowadays, they use scripts to remove image-related context menu entries, hide them behind iframes, obfuscate direct URIs to images, even change file extensions... It is cases like these that View Page Info -> Media/View Page Source/Web Developer -> Web Console -> Net etc. become indispensable towards saving photos to disk... But this is (still) OT, so ending it here... Edited June 6, 2021 by VistaLover

I believe that the only real benefit of a dedicated extension like CanvasBlocker is for ClientRectsFingerprinting: https://browserleaks.com/rects If you're worried about this kind of fingerprinting you have no alternative. j7n
Sometimes I come across a site where I may not right-click to copy, or for any purpose. Usually I want to extract an image and view it in a separate tab to scroll it more comfortably, or view it in IrfanView if it is enormous or I need to compare 2 images without flicker. In Opera I can press F12, choose Enable JavaScript, do my clicks, then Enable JavaScript again for normal use. This is possible without reloading the page or abandoing its current state. Disabling JavaScript entirely is not what I want, because then most pages are not functional. What is the closest analogue achievable with Palemoon? This is a very useful function (among many in Opera).

This is a very useful function (among many in Opera). Not exactly a close analogue, but do you have uBlock-for-firefox-legacy installed? This extension should take care of a lot of these issues when you have the "uBlock filters – Annoyances" list enabled (and try "AdGuard Annoyances" as well). If you encounter a site where it doesn't work, you can just open an issue at: https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin. (you should mention that you're using the Legacy version and hope that someone will answer) P.S. Don't use together with Pale Moon's ad blocker! Hi! v.0.5.5 is the version downloaded from the link you provided, back in the day. You can presumably find it in the older versions section of said page. v.1.5 is the current version, the one suggested by @Dr. Drill.
XPerceniol
Hi guys.. Roy already has the following prefs (in both ST52 and New Moon) set to: canvas.image.cache.limit =0 canvas.customfocusing.enabled =false canvas.hitregions.enabled =false canvas.imagebitmap_extensions.enabled =false devtools.canvasdebugger.enabled = false gfx.offcreeencanvas.enabled = false I have the following prefs set from their defaults: gfx.canvas.azure.backends =cairo gfx.canvas.skiagl.dynamic-cacha = false canvas.poisondata = true Would it do any good to change the following prefs (from their defaults) to false? canvas.capturestream.enabled (from true to) false canvas.focusring.enabled (from true to) false canvas.path.enabled (from true to) false Thank you in advance :)
Sampei.Nihira
Only the "Canvas.poisondata" setting prevents Canvas fingerprinting: https://browserleaks.com/canvas and of course prevents only this type of fingerprinting. As I have already written only the extension: https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/canvasblocker-legacy/ prevents in our browsers the ClientRects Fingerprinting. For other types of fingerprinting, for example font fingerprinting, it is possible to adopt countermeasures, which unfortunately are often partial, in about:config. Some info often general and not specific to the browsers we use,in this thread: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/html5-canvas-fingerprinting.386179/ opened in the year 2016. NotHereToPlayGames
I see that you had to block 6 scripts and 1 object so that could be the only reason it loaded in NM28 when Sp52 failed.
