I got the 360 Extreme Explorer 12.0.1550.0 Portable version. on xp sp2 with the add-ons already integrated .
 It works very well.  it's very fast on youtube, but I can't change the language that's in Russian ... I applied the methods in the "preference"

file but it doesn't work ...if someone has an idea?

the link method below does not work...

"accept_languages": "ru-RU,ru,en-US,en" ==> "accept_languages": "en-US,en"

If you switch search engine to DuckDuckGo, you'll want to edit the preferences file also to remove russian

"url": "https://duckduckgo.com/?q={searchTerms}&kl=ru-ru", ==> "url": "https://duckduckgo.com/?q={searchTerms}",

Curiously I also spotted it earlier talking to a China DNS @ 101.226.4.6.

And other stuff I added to frontend firewall rules. It talks to chrome.360.cn a lot too.

And for fun, I did also for Maxthon 5 when testing. It's worth mentioning that the last XP working version has Chrome 55 in the user-agent.

Even more oddly the 'custom' useragent setting says Chrome 61, and doesn't bother to detect NT 5.2/WoW64 correctly.

As for 360ee, it doesn't seem to work on XP x64 just throwing a 'aw snap' error :/

@Cixert : The "Preferences" (no file extension there!) file is the one that stores your custom browser preferences (modified from their original default values) and, as posted, should be found within your "Profile" folder, usually under ".\User Data\Default"

First, BACK UP that file to a secure location in your disk, before you attempt messing with it manually; any such attempt should be made with the browser exited!

The file itself is in a human-readable "pretty-printed" JSON format; open with a proper text/code editor; search for string

"accept_languages"

It should be there ;) (with, I suspect, zh-CN as the first/default choice in the official Chinese version of 360EEv11); if this JSON block isn't there in your case (but it should be in an already used profile where the user has selected the English language pack), then you should create yourself a nested JSON block for it...

Any idea how to force 360 Extreme Browser to display web pages in specific languages?

I opted to display pages in the Greek language, if available, first - for example, the Google Web Store[GWS], so my manually modified setting inside the "Preferences" file looks like below:

   "intl": {
      "accept_languages": "el-GR,el,en-US,en"
   },

That code means that whenever the page hasn't got a Greek version available, the browser will fallback to displaying the American-English localization of it, and so on (if you add additional locales in that line) ;) ...

(Save the modified file while the browser is closed, then launch the browser anew and check for the effect of your new "custom" preference!)

Hope I've helped :)

If you had read this thread from the start, you'd know that already. :angel

Version 13.0.2170 with Chromium 86.0.4240.198

I downloaded this version: on XP it works perfectly but on Windows 2000 with KernelEx (version 28c) I can't get it to work. It installs and opens but then the search bar doesn't work and no site is displayed.
Do you know why this happens? Thanks in advance.

Been monitoring this thread loosely and finally jumped in for a trial run.

Been using the Russian Repack version 13.0.2182.0 for a couple of days and do have just one tweak I'd like to find a fix for.

Depending on your skin, there is an "extension center" icon where if you left-click it opens the Russian Chrome Web Store (hl=ru).

I have not found where to change this to hl=en  --  is this possible ???

If you right-click it opens 'chrome://myextensions/' - I'd kinda prefer the right-click / left-click be REVERSED.

Left-click open my extensions, right-click open Web Store  --  is this possible ???

edit:  ps - I've also found it much more to my liking to DELETE the 'newtab.zip' file in the Application directory then set the startup page to 'chrome://newtab'.

I am still myself on the latest 360EEv12 version (12.0.1592.0), but I am certain the following would also apply to 360EEv13 builds...
FWIW, in untouched official Chinese builds, the Extension Center tab icon will direct one to their proprietary (Chinese) 360EE Extension Center

https://ext.chrome.360.cn/webstore/

What the so called Russificators (more precisely, the Patch by El Sanchez) do is hardcode a redirection from

https://ext.chrome.360.cn/webstore/ => https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions?hl=ru

If you didn't know already, everything Google-related is sanctioned in mainland China, blocked by the GFW...

El Sanchez's patch modifies the main program DLL, chrome.dll, but because there's not enough room (i.e. null characters, "00" in hexadecimal code) for the whole CWS-ru URI to fit in, they're using the now defunct "Google URL shortener" service to trim that URI down to a short number of characters:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions?hl=ru  => https://goo.gl/j4MLV

Sadly, I don't know off-hand what was/is the goo.gl shortURL equivalent for the en-US CWS,

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions?hl=en-US

but you can still use an existing service (like bit.ly) to trim that down:

=> https://bit.ly/2WKImUI

Then, with 360EE closed, you can use a HexEditor to change

goo.gl/j4MLV => bit.ly/2WKImUI

in chrome.dll (please back-up first, in case you mess up...)

Unfortunately, I can't offer you a solution to your second, TBH niche , request... :(

Have a Merry Christmas indeed! :)

Awesome!  Works like a charm!  Much appreciated!

Seems the en-US isn't really required and CWS defaults to English for the .com domain so I opted for https://bit.ly/38xbzbe instead.

Yeah, I guess I'll have to get into the habit of right-clicking for my local extensions (left-clicking is the habit because of an "Add-ons Button" extension to perform that task in Mypal / NM).

edit:  nah, on second thought I opted for left AND right click to BOTH just take me to 'chrome://myextensions'.

I only ever use the CWS for setting up my initial profile and only use between 3 and 8 extensions depending on browser then never visit the CWS afterwards.

 Then, I'll have to strongly warn you that your decision was, in this particular case, an unwise one... :no:
I have posted about the fact previously in this thread, but ALL iterations of 360EE (i.e. v11/12/13) DO NOT communicate in a scheduled/automated fashion with the official (by Google) CWS to check for extension updates, so ALL extensions you have manually (initially) installed from CWS will forever stay "frozen" in their initial versions!

 Users of ALL versions of 360EE who have installed extensions from Google's CWS are strongly advised to bookmark the URL to their localised edition of the CWS and make a habit of visiting, say, once a fortnight, the URIs of said installed extensions, to manually check whether updates for them have been released! Additionally, CWS will not let you upgrade manually to the newly released version of an extension unless you first uninstall the deprecated old one... In such a scenario, customised extension settings will get lost upon uninstallation, so the upgraded extension installation will have to be re-configured from scratch. :( :angry: Thankfully, many extensions will let you first export customised settings to a file, which you can then re-import to the upgraded version quite easily... ;)

To each their own

I couldn't agree more :whistle:, but:
Browser extensions are being created to complement browser usage; broadly speaking, they are divided into two categories:
1. Ones that enhance an existing/implement a missing browser core feature; these fall, sooner or later, prey to browser devs whim and may eventually break with a future browser release...
2. Ones that enhance/facilitate usage of specific websites visited in the browser; these are the ones most frequently breaking when site admins feel the sudden urge to overhaul things (usually for the worse!) with how their site displays and functions...

In any case, one is left with a broken/useless extension installation; I also abhore auto-everything, but I want working browser extensions, so your statement that "you never visit the CWS afterwards" sounds, to my ears at least, simply unrealistic...

Best festive wishes, don't over-eat, stay safe :)
