lurk&jerk
Can anybody recommend a modern Windows 8 compatible laptop, a laptop that allows a user to downgrade to Windows 8? I currently have an LG Gram and it's not possible to downgrade that laptop. It won't boot to an external CD or a USB.

With intel you need to provide sata driver for windows 8 install. Amd is easier. https://www.win-raid.com/t5648f52-Solution-Win-Win-x-Ryzen-APU-Video-driver-Update-Vulkan-OpenCL-API-support.html

Maybe you are having the NULL issue at boot . https://askubuntu.com/questions/1218006/cant-boot-from-usb-drive-on-lg-gram-running-windows-10-pro Drivers for Window 8 might be another problem, though. jaclaz
