Gregory Braun - Software Design - Passed Away ?

It's very hard to confirm this but I think he has passed away. I have used several of his software programs for many years going back to Windows 98SE. I mention this for anyone interested in his software programs.

I usually go to his web site a few times a year to check for any new programs added ... most all programs were free to anyone. A few were not. The web site is down or 'has been suspended'.

I did some time in a lot of searching and came up with another site where there was an announcement that 'Greg Braun' had passed away.

It seems he was also into slot car racing ... still very hard to find a connection between the slot car web site 'Greg Braun' and the software web site 'Gregory Braun' until reading comments further down at the slot car forum someone posted this comment:

"and he also was a computer scientist based on his other site." ... as I mentioned earlier that site is down or suspended and his slot car site is also down as mentioned in the forum.

From the forum post ...

I found out this sad news today and I had already started to fear something had happened.,I had a small order thru PayPal which I’m not worried about as they will sort it out. When I saw the site down I googled some more and found this forum. He seemed like a really nice guy. His site was awesome and he also was a computer scientist based on his other site. Of course I didn’t know him but I have been looking at the site for several years. With all of this uncertainty now this is another tragic story . I also lost another friend in my car hobby circle today. May they rest in piece.

from the forum site it was said there was no obituary and he had been alone and dead for some time. I liked his calendar program ... Calendar 2000.

I found a site where all his free programs are still there and available ... don't know if anyone saved his actual site.

This is the mention of his passing at the slot car forum,

Sad news about Greg Braun. He did a lot for the hobby.
Greg Braun - Hoslotcarracing.com Update.
For those of you who have visited hoslotcarracing.com, the site run by Greg Braun, for either general info, track layouts or to order, I found out today that Greg Braun has passed away.
According to a neighbor, his body was found 2 weeks ago. He apparently took his own life it's estimated about 3 weeks before that.
He was 65
I believe he lived alone. The neighbor said he had few friends. There is a sister in Minnesota who has been down here since his death to take care of immediate concerns.
There is no obituary. I'm not sure if there was a funeral. The neighbor said he was a very private person.
There is another neighbor who took care of lawn care for Greg. I'm going to try to connect with this person to see if I can get more details.
When I went to the house today, there were 2 cars in the driveway and both had plates that expired in 2018. I'm guessing he didn't go out much.
I never met Greg. I just knew him as a great resource in the hobby.
He will be sorely missed.
Please feel free to share this to other FB pages to spread the word.

May his soul rest in peace.

---------------

I mention this so you can check out his software programs while still available at the one site. Maybe everything will be on the Way Back site, I don't exactly know how that works. All I know for a real fact is that his birthday is November 16th ... he has that listed on his 'Calendar 2000' program on Nov 16th - Gregory's Birthday with a small birthday cake pictured.

Perhaps someone has more 100% information on this ... I feel like I am 99% correct in this post but not 100%. It's still sad for a software person to be gone.

Found this after posting the earlier post. Since there was no obituary and all I have is the birthday November 16th.

This site lists a Gregory Braun who was born on 11/16/1953 and is 66 years old. That is close to the age listed in slot car racing forum article which was 65 ... so he probably has passed away with the same name and the age so close.

Most recent WayBackMachine search indicates the account is suspended:
http://web.archive.org/web/20201030011053/http://www.gregorybraun.com/cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi

From 2019 probably provides the information you seek. Substitute the date string '20191226112558' with '2018' or '201001' or whatever to go further back in time, WayBack provides the nearest date. Hope this helps.

What a mess for me.  I was not aware of his passing, and had been using Password Keeper 2000 v7.2 until my system crashed and upgraded salvaging data.

The issue I have is that my old backup in open cvs file of my passwords from Password Keeper is a couple of years old and my latest database has 2+ years worth of new data.  My issue is that I can't find the original key for the program, so reinstall will not even let you enter a trial mode, and there are no keys on the pirate sites.... only 6.2/6.4 which is no help.

Can an older registered user, who is no longer using Password Keeper 2000 v7.2 please share the key?  AFAIK, Password Keeper does not encrypt according to the key, so any valid key will work.
