FantasyAcquiesce
Hello, Installing the unofficial Windows Media Player 10 for Windows 9x ended up breaking my Windows ME installation, so I am wondering if it is possible to simply run rloew's ram patch through a live boot of FreeDOS (if there is one) or something similar. I am hoping I do not have to get my hands dirty opening the laptop to remove a stick of ram. Also, I do not have a floppy disk and my laptop does not appear to have a slot either. Thank you for your time Edited June 22, 2020 by FantasyAcquiesce
ABCDEFG
The patch can be started in windows. Going into dos mode is not needed. For fresh WinMe installation just limit memory pages in C:\Windows\system.ini and system can start without patch. [386Enh] MaxPhysPage=40000 you can edit your system.ini from your WindowsMe boot disk using (CD letter):\tools\oldmsdos\qbasic.exe Of course that's only if you have a cd drive, othewise you need to make a bootable usb... RainyShadow
Or boot grub4dos/syslinux/etc. , load some .ISO of suitable size in memory, then chainload your WinME
