I've been using NordVPN for quite some time and their service is pretty good with many server across the globe. The only problem though was that they decided to drop PPTP and L2TP which are mandatory on XP as they are the only two that work with the OS without using external things like OpenVPN. They claimed that those protocols were old and outdated and "not secure enough anymore" so they dropped them, so I ditched the company. A friend of mine had the chance to get a coupon for a very discounted lifetime subscription at FastestVPN, however this service is not very good. I mean, don't get me wrong, I use it on a daily basis, but the servers I'm interested in (the UK ones) are almost always full, so I have to switch to the States. As a pro thing, though, they kept each and every legacy protocol including PPTP, L2TP, IPSec Xauth PSK and they also support new protocols like OpenVPN. I think I can say that they're alright. A friend of mine also went to Mainland China to the city of Qingdao and used it there as my subscription covers many devices. Although many VPN providers were blocked, FastestVPN managed to connect and make him access the internet. If you wanna go with FastestVPN, just remember one thing: they're alright, but definitely NOT the fastest as their server are overcrowded and slow at times.

As one final note: please DO NOT use free VPNs or proxy, 'cause you don't know who owns them; in the best case it's some enormous company trying to collect your data and sell it for marketing purposes, in the worse case it's some hacker waiting to steal your bank account or credit card or just your facebook account and sell it in the deep web. (I've seen this happening many years ago with suspicious "free proxy servers" too many times...).

Perhaps your ISP is blocking the most common VPN protocols. Which Internet Service Provider do you have?

Two words? Not informative.
In my country, censorship blocks access to many sites.
The above methods work fine for me.

Have any of you already tested Windscribe? Is it really that good? the best vpn for multiple devices? I am thinking 5+ devices because we have a lot of people in the house and we all need to be safe. And I don’t want a poor vpn but a good one if possible. Thanks guys.

just became aware of Windscribe VPN in the last 10 days from reading this thread. It works very nice with my Windows XP setup. The 'free' 10 GB plan is good.

There doesn't seem to be many VPNs for Windows XP. Probably runs very good on Windows 7 and higher but it works good with the XP download. There are some online Winscribe reviews using search.

Thanks dr.drill...

I really need this . I install it successfully, and it work..but after a little time it required username and password repeatdly..

I check the network setting..when it is on

" no proxy "it work fine..but after a while it automatically go to "automatic proxy configuration url" and it stop loading page and ask for username and password again.

Do you have any solution for this to stay in no proxy option?

Tor works too (if you download the appropriate version for XP) But if you want to use it with your Firefox installation, just go to proxy settings and make it same as the Tor Browser's. (Tor must be running too)

Apologies if needed for revitalizing this old thread but is relevant to both of these extensions and where I read about them initially.

I have tried a few times with different builds of Roytam1 NewMoon28 browsers built for XPSP3 SSE

These Are The extensions I have

Windscribe_Internet_As_It_Should_Be-0.1.61-fx.xpi

MD5:     2D7774E5621619FCC920C0FE7CFC1064
SHA1:   8024A26805BB4B132DD7580D688D53FB15AE4EC1

I remember the file linked above wasn't available at the time and still isn't from the above URL. This one I got from the Classic Add-Ons Archive extension maybe, or from Windscribe site using the Wayback site.

Browsec-3.16.16.2_unofficial.xpi

MD5:     B06980A616A2AA065B80D4E7E3121B39
SHA1:   4731EA861457F34563238B1DAFDA17392CE6AE31

Unknown Source I cannot remember reason for MD5 and SHA1

I cannot remember if the file linked above was or wasn't available from the above URL so MD5 and SHA1 maybe help

Another Browsec

Browsec-3.16.16.2_unofficial.xpi

MD5:     BC3A8F0CB96F61EADCCB92E696FA9D1B
SHA1:   09279AE6839571258F760359ACF5136FCA97C62E

Unknown location where this is from maybe both and above unknown source are from the Classic Add-Ons Archive Extension

These extensions I have tried with Roytam1 NewMoon28 browsers, not installed at the same time. Their options don't show anywhere after install. I looked in these locations for them or info of them.

New Window
Private Window
No Controls found in any controls menu File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help
Customize Menu No icon or other presence of the extension
Add-Ons Menus The Add-On panel Clicking and more no difference found or any options
Profile folder Extensions and Extensions.ini does show the correct information of the installed Extension
about:config also shows the extension installed

_____________

quoted from above and in many other VPN extension posts here

[  Note: in about:config parameter "network.cookie.cookieBehavior" should be set to 0, 1 or 3  ]

What is the difference between  0, 1 and 3 (an which one is the more preferred for privacy)

I have also tried with Roytam1 NewMoon28 build a Fresh Install. The same happens as when update a current build that nothing is seen after install of any options for either extension.

It is with Roytam1 NewMoon28 builds I would like to have either Windscribe or Browsec working.

Did you have to do something different to get either of these extensions to work, with preference , about:config or otherwise.
