Best browsers for Windows XP?

I work with a lot of Windows XP computers and well I have to connect some to the internet (So I can do junk like get drivers on them, install software or just playing music in the background while I work on them)

Anyways, for the past while I've been using Chrome for web browsing but Chrome's starting to feel slow and a lot of sites aren't working right anymore.  So what's the best browsers for XP - one that's more are more up to date? (side note: I use Firefox on my main xp pc, as it works best with YouTube)

At this point I really feel like I am kind of advertising them, but I can not stress enough how happy I am that there is a Chromium 78 (which is the latest) based browser on Windows 2000, XP and Vista.

I've been using it as my main browser for a couple of months now and honestly if you can get past the chinese setup, it is the most up to date browser you can get.

Wait it's really running on Chromium 78? How's that possible, I thought it was using API's that XP couldn't support or something.

But really, that's quite impressive I'll definelty check it out. How well does it run?

Well, they have backported it somehow. Nevertheless, it does work and it works really well, especially on older computers.

I use a very old system as my daily driver (you can find out about the machine if you read my signature) and to me, the best browser for Windows XP is @roytam1's fork of Firefox 45 ESR. That fork includes all the updates from TenFourFox, and if you use the UOC Patch and the Enforcer for that browser, you can optimize it to run better on your machine. Provided your graphics card is capable enough to accelerate it.

Give them a go if you want. I'd be curious to find out how they would perform on your Pentium 4.

Good luck. It seems to be working just fine on my first ever laptop with a Pentium M from 2006 and integrated graphics.

the best browser is the one that has multi process function enabled and the one that supports official site addons.

Firefox52 is still good but more and more sites are not displayed correctly anymore

Serpent52 doesn't support most addons even if you manually install them in (Serpent55 unreliable)

Centaury52 and Newmoon28 are pretty much the same thing, with my main hardware (AMD BE quad) when you open-close too many apps it gets frozen at around 30% of CPU usage

in short, you cannot live with a single of these ''old'' up to date browsers because you may want to use FF52 to test some sites that do not run on them

I have downloaded both versions although the 360SE is 100% chinese and full of advertising banners just like the QQ web browser.

I feel sorry for the chinese people who have to deal with slow internet speed, censored sites and spied on 24/h by the government.

I had to download the exe files through W7 because none of my browsers were able to do so.

to begin I have uncked all cases before installing it because chinese software is often full of spyware and malware

now the verdict, I must admit it's the best browser I have tested in a long while, very smooth and does support google store apps...

no other spyware program got installed to my knowledge but I would be cautious to use this chinese browsers to make purchases online

a few days ago I was about to download the new Yandex version but I don't think I should give it a second chance... LOL

The "best" browser for XP depends on your hardware.

For pre-SSE2 processors, I agree with @looking4awayout:

If your system is even older (pre-SSE) your best bet is probably @roytam1's no-SSE build of New Moon 27.

For newer systems you have more options. The Chinese Chromium backports are OK if you like Chromium and can deal with the Chinese language. If you prefer a Firefox-based browser, I've had pretty good luck with @roytam1's Serpent 55. It supports more add-ons than his Serpent 52 and I almost never have problems with Web sites not displaying correctly.

might try it via a VM to check for any dodgy stuff, it may be sending data or something to a webserver or whatever!

Will check out it and if it's all good I might check it out

that could be the cause why they are making a browser in english for international users.....

anyway I don't care because when you download Android apps you get to share a bunch of personal things. this is not the cause for which I don't use W10

If the computer is powerful enough, then now the best browser is 360 Extreme. Firefox 52 is becoming obsolete, while Serpent, Basilisk and Pale Moon, although updated, can’t provide full compatibility with new sites that are primarily made for Chrome. Lack of translation, this is a solvable problem, for example, there is a fully translated Russian version in which a part of telemetry is blocked and Chrome Add-ons Store is made by default.

I mainly Use @roytam1's K-Meleon, Serpent, and New Moon 28 builds. Some people say they have sites that wont load in these but I have encountered one as of yet.

I've never tried the 360 extreme browser, because while I hear some tracking is blocked, it doesn't sound like all is. And I have no real need for a heavy chrome browser anyway.

New moon? you mean pale moon!

Also I think I've used that browser before, also I'm not 100% fans of chromium browsers since they can be quite ram heavy
