Nemoplus Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 (edited) Hello everyone and greetings to whole XP community! I'm user of newest version of New Moon ver. 28.10.1a1 - really thanks Roytam for this web browser. It is really saving my life! In last time Youtube decided to refuse support for their old layout version and transfer everyone to the newest. I must say that new layout is really crappy and works so slow on my device. It would be really awesome to find a way to go back to old version or do something to make youtube site much faster in use. Is there any chance that in future updates of web browsers we'll go back to old youtube again? I saw that is possible in New Moon 27 but unfortunately there's no possibility to play videos on yt there. What do you think guys about this topic? I'll appreciate your help and opinion Edited July 9, 2020 by Nemoplus

I'll appreciate your help and opinion For now you can have the old interface back by changing in about:config: general.useragent.override.youtube.com from: Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0 PaleMoon/28.10.1a1 to: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html) That is, until Google kills it permanently... Screenshot [EDIT] Changed the first useragent value from the Linux one to the one in my XP virtual machine; sorry for that... Edited July 9, 2020 by nicolaasjan 1

Screenshot Hello and thank you so much for responding! I'll try this out. Too bad for us that is only a temporary solution and soon or later we'll have to deal with this new layout... I hope that we'll find a way how to use youtube in some kind "lightweight" method.

Well... Yesterday it worked, but now it doesn't any more here... You can also check out https://invidio.us/ [EDIT] With the Greasemonkey extension and a userscript you can let embedded Youtube videos play in Invidious. Nemoplus Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 (edited) Hey there! Yeah I noticed that too. I have made changes in about:config settings as you said and....I had old youtube layout! But only for few hours Bad luck! Thanks a lot for another tip! Honestly I've never used Greasemonkey and userscripts. I hope that we can trust that "youtube-to-invidious" script and it's legit. I read somewhere that userscripts can steal passwords so I'm little bit paranoid in that case. I'm gonna read something more about that. Thank you anyway! EDIT: Okay I thought that there's a possibility to play videos straight from invidio.us but it looks like that they're divided on those which works correctly and those which have error: "The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported." . Damn it. Is there a same issue on youtube-to-invidious script? Edited July 10, 2020 by Nemoplus

You can review the code of the script here: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/375264-youtube-to-invidious/code When installed, you can even change a few options in the script via Greasemonkey (Userscripts ---> Preferences): About your edit: I don't know. Nemoplus Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 I'll check it. Thanks so much nicolaasjan for your support :)

Thanks so much nicolaasjan for your support No problem; However, I noticed on the youtube-to-invidious Feedback page some people reported problems with Pale Moon... YT2Invidio seems to work better (tested on this site). PS: Especially on an old PC a good ad blocker (uBlock-for-firefox-legacy) will definitely speed up webpage loading! Nemoplus Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 I find another solution on reddit from last hour. It's similar to your yesterday advice but they put extra second step. I must check it if it's still works Quote " Follow both of these steps: 1.Spoof your UserAgent to Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html) for youtube.com by using an UA switcher addon... or just install this https://github.com/xxzefgh/youtube-classic-extension 2.Use the Redirector addon to append ?disable_polymer=1 to all URLs and to avoid the YT homepage https://einaregilsson.com/redirector/ by importing these rules: https://pastebin.com/raw/zGgQE42H (Ctrl+S save file as anything.json)"

Tip: The new Reddit layout is probably very slow on your PC. With this userscript all Reddit links get redirected to https://old.reddit.com/ which is way faster. Edited July 10, 2020 by nicolaasjan

bernd Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Hi Roy, starting palemoon-27.9.7.win32-git-20200704 in Safe Mode gives me this error report (window): XML Parsing Error: not well-formed Location: chrome://browser/content/safeMode.xul Line Number 24, Column 1:#ifdef XP_WIN ^ Additionally, just discovered that the latest uBlock-for-firefox-legacy 1.16.4.22 could not be installed. It says that this version is not compatible with NM 27.9.7.

This is to be expected and already reported elsewhere: On 7/4/2020 at 9:25 PM, VistaLover said: As detailed in the previously linked GitHub PR comment, uB0-legacy now needs ES6 support in the browser itself to tackle the removal of certain classes of unwanted content ; does ABL handle such content in a different way? If not, then existing users of uB0-legacy 1.16.4.21 in NM27 should probably stay put at that version (sadly no longer updating ) and face some random/occasional breakage in their ad-removal... It'd be like Chrome 49 users on XP/Vista, who are now confined in using uB0 v1.16.18 for good... Nothing can be done about that, unless recent ECMAScript 6 javascript features are backported to NM27... Edited July 11, 2020 by VistaLover 2
