My Browser Builds (Part 2)

Recommended Posts

Hello,
@roytam1, could you review the latest code changes of new latest Basilisk MOEBIUS (Serpent 55) from 20210327, Win32: http://o.rthost.win/basilisk/basilisk55-win32-git-20210327-2b3213dec-xpmod.7z
I find it less responsive (on all websites) than all previous versions of Serpent 55. By measuring the page speed with app.telemetry Page Speed Monitor extension: there is the problem of larger values for App cache, DNS lookup, TCP connection, then onload event (Page fully loaded...) also becomes longer.
Problem (on the last version of Serpent 55 from 20210327): with the last 3 versions of this add-on which are on AMO (17 series...): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/apptelemetry/  - with refresh page, icon blinks twice... once when clicking, and second time when giving the page speed result.

There is no such double flashing with the older version (e.g. 16.1.3.xpi) of this app.telemetry Page Speed Monitor found on web.archive.org: https://web.archive.org/web/20191029181242/https://legacycollector.org/firefox-addons/377584/index.html
Thank you in advance...

... Modern Wakandan? Really Moonchild?

Description: The font provided is a fictional alphabet created specifically for the Black Panther Movie.

Anyhow, blocking remote fonts in uBlock Origin "legacy" fixed it for me...

I think this is some kind of webfont april fool?

Well. I was well on April 2nd (by 5 hours) in my timezone already, so that wasn't my first thought...  In a devilish coincidence (or perhaps it was deliberate all along), the official PM forums were down for maintenance, because going there to look for answers was what I did first, before posting here... :( Now that their forums are back, all has been revealed:

Thanks everyone for your input... :P

....As for the issue its self. I suspect the Martin will post about it raising holy hell in the ghacks comments section. Also the Reddit Shithole as well as the XPf***s with the MSFN Hackers will go nuts over it when it finally happens. We will initially lose users to both Waterfox and the XPf***s but once they find out those aren't actually viable alternatives the majority of them will return where they will be warmly welcomed, I'm sure.....

Without Brakes.............

Hi

I usually test all xp browsers and sometimes I find surprises, for example with Mypal and Centaury where the "beacon" tracking api refuses to be deactivated even though it is set to disabled in about.config... no problem on Newmoon 28 and Serpent. Strange! because this api is not trivial. Maybe a bug, but I can't believe it. I know this is not the place for this post, but other Newmoon users also use Mypal or centaury... so beware...
tested on browserleaks and html5test

Those posts are always fun to read. Moonchild says that a browser is a tool as they all plan to destroy what makes it a useful tool so they can move forward into the "modern" era.

Did I get that right?  --:)

Whatever changes they make can probably be reverted here (it's those MSFN Hackers) so it should only affect them. Also, it's for Pale Moon only right and firefox addons should keep working in 52 regardless?

palem's post there is, I think, highly representative/reflective of the major part of Moonchild browsers' userbase, and should also encompass users of Roytam1 forks here... :) The actual URI of the post (by M.A.T.) quoted is:

... As far as I know, no-one here has already gone/will go nuts over it, all is needed is to keep a vigilant eye on UXP+PM issue trackers/UXP+PM master branches and selectively revert/omit what is deemed unneeded for our tree... ;) Even if that, eventually, will just buy us more time (hopefully lots of it...), it would be highly worth it! E.g., I have already warned readers here of the new plan (envisioned by M.A.T.) to move to an install.json based extension ecosystem (deprecating the install.rdf one), I think these developments should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis/when they present themselves...

OT: To Sampei and to all observing Easter tomorrow, may you have a very Happy Easter Sunday :) (... Unfortunately, divisions between communities of the same Faith mean that over here Easter Sunday won't "arrive" until May 2nd :( ) ...

@VistaLover

Happy Easter to you too my friend.

My Easter will be very sad.:(

We are in the red zone for Covid-19.

My father, who was very old, passed away after the Anti-Covid 19 vaccine.

The governor of my region also banned the opening of grocery stores on Sunday and Monday.

Good thing it is possible to visit relatives, my mother will not be alone.

I wish all forum members who observe Easter, a peaceful day.

Twitter is having firefox fits again. Using the latest release+ user string I'm getting this message in 52 and 55:

"Something went wrong, but don’t fret — let’s give it another shot."

Changing the string to this and it comes in again:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0

Apologies :(, it was somewhat inconsiderate of me to wish you Happy Easter, while you are in mourning over your recent loss ... But, life must go on, as we say here: "The Dead among the Dead and the Living among the Living"; peace with you and your loved ones...
Covid19-wise, it's the same SNAFU over here, too...
