Win98SE on a delightfully 2000's Gateway?

Greetings fellow nostalgic nerds,

I recently picked up a 2003 Gateway with a Pentium 4 in it and a beautiful 1024x768 CRT. Swapped a few parts and got it running like new, and installed Windows 98SE with no problems. The machine works great, except I can only get 16 colors at 800x600. I have searched the bowels of the internet and it seems like nobody has any drivers for 98 that work with integrated Intel chipsets. I haven't been able to determine exactly what internals the machine has because the original HDD was dead, along with it's copy of XP and all the drivers. System info only says its an "Intel Family" Processor and generic VGA adapter graphics. Do any of these drivers exist, or should I search for a compatible VGA graphics card to put in it?

Looks like it could be Intel Integrated chip you could try https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/7005/Intel-R-Extreme-Graphics-2-driver?product=81530 By all means try and install a driver but if you intend to do gaming or high intensive graphics then an integrated combined Video + North-Bridge usually has not enough heat-sinking. BTW most graphics cards could do with more heat-sinking.

Is it this one?

https://www.cnet.com/products/gateway-500s-mdt-p4-2-ghz-128-mb-40-gb-lcd-17/

The board is seemingly an Intel 845G, so these:

https://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/1170/

via Wayback Machine:

https://web.archive.org/web/20040409055856/http://aiedownload.intel.com/df-support/4773/eng/win9xe114.exe

should be the suitable drivers.

Check the VEN&DEV , as an example with one of the programs here https://msfn.org/board/topic/179593-alternative-device-manager-for-win98/

Should be: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2562

P.S.: @Goodmaneuver For some reasons your link doesn't work :w00t:

This one works:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/7005/Intel-R-Extreme-Graphics-2-driver

should be latest-latest version :):

https://downloadmirror.intel.com/7005/a08/win9x1361.exe

Jaclaz: The link is to the download page like yours, both yours and mine work for me. There is a slight difference to the page, my link has an added URL link on the page written as 'Graphics Drivers for Intel® 82845G Graphics Controller' which directs to all OS's download page.

@jaclazIt looks very similar, except mine has a CRT monitor and 1GB of ram. The ram is most likely an upgrade, it was my friend's family computer for a long time. The universal vga drivers did work, but I haven't tried running a game or anything on it. I'm going to try all the other linked drivers next, will update with what happens. Thanks for all the help!

Installed the 845 Chipset drivers and it seems like it's working great, full resolution at high color

Good. :)

@GoodManeuver

I don't know, if I use your link (with the "?product=81530" at the end) I land to a 404 page:

Yes a shame about that, Euro area must not link to the same server or something. Did you use Google as a search as I found the link through Google URL by searching the file name. I wonder if ShockchargeIV could link to my S/C?

If I google for win9x1361.exe I find (among other links) the link I posted (without the "?product=81530" at the end), it is porbably as you say, different location= different servers, but it remains "queer".
