CCleaner - MailNews - New Moon

Hi to all MSFN members.
CCleaner considers New Moon as Firefox.
We would expect it to be the same for Thunderbird and MailNews.

But is not so.

However, I noticed that after starting Thunderbird there are 3 areas considered by CCleaner.

1) Internet Cache

2) Cookies

3) Session:

I have verified that the files / folders are almost identical for Session and Internet Cache.
While I do not detect Cookies.

I added these 2 settings to the custom folders / files to be cleaned:

I'm asking some MSFN members to check the above.
And if there is any mistake to help me correct it.
Thank you.:hello:

I asked APMichael to add support for Interlink Mail & News to Winapp2.ini:

https://github.com/MoscaDotTo/Winapp2/issues/377

However, these rules are not good for our version of Interlink MailNews.
Just see the following registry key:

Detect1 = HKLM\Software\Binary Outcast\Interlink

which is not present in our version of Interlink MailNews.

... Again :P, this is most probably due to the lack of a proper installer for the XP/Vista Interlink fork (Mail News); my advice again would be to install official Interlink on a supported OS (default installation location and 32-bit architecture would be preferable), export the written key as a .reg file and then merge it on your XP machine; sadly, I'm not interested in testing that e-mail client, but modify the paths accordingly if the Mail News fork doesn't advertise itself as "\Binary Outcast\Interlink"...

In the above case, you can always modify yourself the "Winapp2.ini" file locally, since it's open source:

https://github.com/MoscaDotTo/Winapp2/commit/ff1cb36

Just my 2 eurocents, of course (auguroni :))...

EDIT: By inspecting more closely your CCleaner screenshots, I can now see that indeed Mail News does create "\Binary Outcast\Interlink" directories, so you should be fine with a .reg file imported from, say, Win7 x86... :yes:

EDIT2: Since you also keep Thunderbird installed, you can probably figure out yourself what subkeys should be contained under "HKLM\Software\Binary Outcast\Interlink" by extrapolating from "HKLM\Software\Mozilla\Mozilla Thunderbird"; shouldn't be hard to create needed entries yourself ;)

It is clear from the poll that I opened that nobody from Interlink Mail News cares.:no:

On the other hand, I have already solved the problem with the rules I added.:thumbup

This discussion is just to give CCleaner (portable) + Interlink MN a more appropriate look.

I have already tried to modify the instructions of Winapp2.ini but the look is not for the moment of my liking.

Thank you for your considerations.;):hello:

Et voilà :cheerleader::

Session:

Internet Cache:

F06FkRU4_o.jpg

I could also insert 2 other rules that work with the version of Interlink MailNews for XP:

*  DOM Store
*  Startup Cache

*** EDIT

I think I leave the look highlighted in the image below:

I have no idea if these rules could be beneficial.:no:

If there is any MSFN member who can explain to me.........:worship:

I added some cleaning rules to New Moon too:

Xp8gKzca_o.jpg

The rules work immediately without modification.
Some of these rules are not necessary for New Moon.
For example, the rule for cleaning the Telemetry.

Added a customized profile for MailNews to SpeedyFox.
Which is detected as Thunderbird:

It is interesting to note how it is possible, contrary to what is reported:

Quote

Custom.ini

..........Winapp2.ini does not support non-English system configurations or portable software natively....................

https://github.com/MoscaDotTo/Winapp2

insert rules for New Moon and MailNews but only thanks to the presence of the "dectect Key" rule referring to Firefox or Thunderbird.

Uninstalling Firefox and Thunderbird is possible.

But it is necessary not to remove the Mozilla/Thunderbird folder in %AppData%.

Another possibility is the language of the OS.
My OS is in Italian and the rules work.:thumbup

Well, I'm getting there, my friend - thanks so much for all your advice/help.

I don't know about others, but CCleaner doesn't even pick up Serpent at all - so I'll have to add my own rules - goodie ... something to keep me busy!

Jeez ... I had no idea what was being stored until now ... please bare in mind, I'm just learning as I go here with this.

Again ... TY @Sampei.Nihira:)

EDIT: Thus far - below rules appears to take care of 'local appdata"; unless I'm totally clueless, which is a good possibility!
