You're right. Selecting a non-relevant lastly installed update is a safe way for testing. I think it will work. You know our systems are a bit like twins. :thumbup

The "cannot connect" error message was back in my System Event Log this morning.
I did have some connection problems earlier on though, so that could have caused it, I'll wait to see if it happens again tomorrow.
If it doesn't reoccur, I will try the update uninstall test then.

OK, I did my tests, with resounding success!

As I thought, uninstalling KB4501226 did not produce a result, as it's no longer actually offered to POSReady 2009 systems.
Uninstalling its predecessor, KB4487990 produced the desired result though, as you can see above.
So, It's all working!

That's fine! Glad to hear it's working for you. Our systems seem to be very similar in fact.

Another OT post, but if any of you didn't know, the online activation servers still work for XP with a unblacklisted product key. You just need the root certificate update. If you activate online, you don't have to deal with Genuine Windows Activation error on Windows Update. It connects to this url, https://wpa.one.microsoft.com Here is the SSL Test https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=wpa.one.microsoft.com It supports XP ciphers.

I already knew that. I was able to activate my Xp with current root certificates and Tls 1.2 even without httpsproxy.

Yes, but you don't need PosReady Updates. Just enter a valid XP key in the activation wizard and it will activate even with IE6 installed.

Thanks for the tip! I did not know that.:angel Impressive that SSL 3.0 is enough to activate.

Yep, I was able to activate with only SSL 3.0 and IE6 with root certificate update. Below is a picture of Internet Explorer connecting successfully to the activation server with IE6 and via SSL 3.0.cZEEs4l.png

But how can I use Windows Update with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP3?

At first you should provide information about your system. Which OS do you use i.e. from which operating system do you want to access WU using IE 6? And why IE 6? You should install the more recent version IE 8 if possible!

Hi

Thanks for reveiving me.

Il use Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3 French on a Compaq Presario 1200, and I want to use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 because IE7 & 8 doesn't Work on my Computer.

This computer is for family use, so I need to update it.

And Il don't like Windows Internet Explorer 7 & 8.

But when I try with IE6, the website stop working and IE6 crash.

If IE 8 doesn't work in your XP system, then you have to reinstall from scratch. Usually IE 8 works in every XP system. If not, your Windows XP installation is faulty. Restoring access to MU needs updates relating to IE 8. Maybe the WSUS server method works, but I don't think so. Reinstall XP and use an offline update pack. Then restore MU and let it look for missing updates.
