Greasemonkey Script to Fix YouTube Player

Heritage

Recommended Posts

This script replaces the now broken HTML5 YouTube player with a flash alternative.  See the attached screenshot of it in action.

Requirements

  • Adobe Flash Version 10.3.183.90
  • Firefox 9.0.1
  • Greasemonkey 0.9.22.1

Once you've got the above installed, open this link in Firefox to install the script.  More information can be found on the script's GitHub page.

Seems to be working nicely in Firefox, thanks.

schwups if you are using Opera 12.02, try to play any youtube video (it's not working), then select one of the videos on the right side of the screen and see what happens.

The Opera HTML5 Player still plays some interviews and documentations, but no music anymore here. The you tube HTML5 testpage gives the same information for FF9.0.1 and Opera (12.02 / 11.64), that WebM VP8 and HTMLVideoElement is supported. The other formats have the exclamation mark. I found this to use Greasemonkey user scripts in Opera, but it doesn't work: https://www.ghacks.net/2008/08/10/greasemonkey-in-opera/
