uBlock Origin, Chromium 54 and Firefox 52.9 ESR

I put this rule in UBO Legacy, but found it is not used:

Quote

/b/ss/*&aqe=

I found that in UBO for Chrome it is regularly used with the same filter lists. *****

More info for the rule at the thread below:

https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/ublock-a-lean-and-fast-blocker.365273/page-196

My current lists:

Is there any MSFN member who can deactivate Easyprivacy list and check if the rule is regularly used?

TH.

***** = Rules entered in "My Filters" are handled differently with UBO Legacy in NM28 than with UBO for Chrome.
In UBO Legacy the rule in "My Filters" prevails over the rules of the other lists.

It's just a benchmark.
Which showed that with a considerable number of network filters performance is always OK.

But performance is better with fewer filters.
This advantage is especially noticeable in older PCs and OS.

Moreover, Manifest v3 with fixed rules at 150000 requires us to resize the lists we use.
Especially if we prefer to use the same lists (like me) both in New Moon installed in W.XP and in other OS and Chrome-based browsers.

I deleted the 1Hosts mini list.
It has reached almost 45000 rules, which are too many for me
This list has 4 tags:

  • Ads
  • Crypto
  • Malware
  • Privacy

There is no need for the Crypto functionality because it is in the built-in lists.
To replace the Malware functionality I re-entered the default list.
To replace the Ads and Privacy features, I replaced the top500 list with the complete Kees one.
Also in Custom I also have AdGuard Tracking Protection Plus list.
I also re-entered the Phishing Army list.

In this way I have a lower total number of network and cosmetic filters:

57093 + 39765

and more protection:

P.S. I deleted Fanboy's Tracking Protection List.
I needed it for a single website.
Which is now covered by the newly added lists.

I replaced the adGuard Annoyances list with AdGuard Annoyances filter (Optimized).

New lists.

The list of Kees1958 has changed name you can find it at the link below:

https://github.com/Kees1958/W3C_annual_most_used_survey_blocklist/blob/master/TOP_EU_US_Ads_Trackers_ABP

I have deselected:

"Online Malicious URL Blocklist"

because it suddenly incorporates too many rules.

I have instead subscribed:

"Online Malicious Domains Blocklist".

I have inserted in "My filter" the top 10 updated TLDs taken from the database of:

https://www.spamhaus.org/statistics/tlds/

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/DandelionSprout/adfilt/master/Alternate versions Anti-Malware List/AntiMalwareABP.txt

Edit - 09 december

! The 10 Most Abused Top Level Domains

||*.agency^$all
||*.gdn^$all

Each line of code with the "all" function is equivalent to 5 rules.
Today Raymond Hill decided a change that allows the reuse of the rules *****, we hope it will be followed by Just Off for the legacy version of UBO.

If any MSFN member is interested I am willing to share my general rules in My filters.:yes::hello:

I had opened an issue:

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock-for-firefox-legacy/issues/283

that Just Off closed with this motivation:

Quote

"As far as I can tell, this optimization cannot be applied to the uBlock-for-firefox-legacy codebase in its current state."

Then MSFN members using legacy UBO will see the number of rules in the default malware list grow exponentially over time.

To avoid this you can use the "domains" list which has 5298 rules:

https://curben.gitlab.io/malware-filter/urlhaus-filter-domains-online.txt

The list is also featured in the Filterlist.

After many tests I decided to abandon Dandelion Sprout's Bad top-level domains because the list is out of date.

New List (17 Rules):

! The Most Abused Top Level Domains
! https://www.spamhaus.org/statistics/tlds/
||*.rest^$all
||*.gq^$all
||*.work^$all
||*.tk^$all
||*.ml^$all

||*.casa^$all
||*.london^$all

||*.fail^$all
||*.surf^$all
||*.ga^$all
||*.cam^$all
||*.exposed^$all
||*.buzz^$all
||*.fit^$all
||*.asia^$all

The last rule out of the list Top10 always maintains a respectable score

ga= 1.90
