sdfox7 Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 The standard 27.9.1 builds of New Moon (based on Pale Moon) are still being developed and updated on a near weekly basis: Windows XP 32 bit: https://o.rthost.cf/palemoon/palemoon-27.9.1a1.win32-git-20180811-327e3a476-xpmod.7z Windows XP 64 bit: https://o.rthost.cf/palemoon/palemoon-27.9.1a1.win64-git-20180811-327e3a476-xpmod.7z Directory: https://o.rthost.cf/palemoon/?sort=date&order=desc 1
FranceBB Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 (edited) Advanced Chrome is a Chromium fork that aims to support XP after Chrome 49. The latest version has been released on January 5th this year and is based on Chromium 54.20.6530.0. Unfortunately, that's still too old 'cause right now Google is developing Chrome 70, but still if you are really willing to stick with Chrome, it's better to use Chromium 54 rather than the old official 49. There are a few bugs like when you go to settings it makes a call not available in the kernel but it doesn't crash and when you surf pages with many video contents autoloading (like Facebook) it may run out of memory and crash. Anyway, overall it's still kinda "usable" as long as you spoof it as Chrome 68 on startup. http://browser.taokaizen.com Edited August 17, 2018 by FranceBB 1

I don't think I've ever had issues with websites. Not bad for a browser that has been unsupported for nearly three years (April 2016). 1
FranceBB Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 (edited) Yes, not bad at all. With Chromium 54 the only issue I had was with the government website when I had to check my payslip contributions last month. It complained that my version of Chromium was too old, but when I spoofed it as Chromium 67 it worked flawlessly. The only things that don't work on the old version of Chrome (49 nor 54) are websites apps written in Electron. For instance, an Electron website that doesn't work is Discord, a messaging website and app that gained consensus by the public in the last few months and that aims to replace TeamSpeak. There aren't a lot of websites written in Electron; still, the fact that they are not working is not exactly a good thing. (By the way if you are curious about what happens when you try to open a website written in Electron, it just shows a blank white screen). Edited August 17, 2018 by FranceBB
roytam1 Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 it might be worth mentioning Maxthon is still supporting XP and incorporates chromium 61 codes. *** But remember: Maxthon is coded by chinese company, your privacy may not be guaranteed. 2
Bersaglio Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 Sorry, but I believe that topic strarter need to correct the first message with this: = Mozilla Firefox: 52.9.0ESR released June 25, 2018 and still supported until September 05, 2018 1

Palemoon v28 is not for Windows XP. Minimum System Requirements: Windows 7/8/10/Server 2008 R2 or later. A processor with SSE2 instruction support. 1 GB of RAM. At least 200 MB of free (uncompressed) disk space. Last for XP is 26.5.0 http://matejhorvat.si/en/unfiled/pmxp/index.htm That's why I use Mypal 27.9.4 https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal/releases Edited August 18, 2018 by wyxchari

Not a surprise that it's a Chinese company that supports XP, as Windows XP is still widely used across China. I took a look at it and it looks like Opera (and I don't like Opera xD). Anyway, if they were willing to share the source code, it would be a way easier to backport Chromium 61, but I guess that's never gonna happen. 1

cc333 Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Roytam1's PM28 builds work perfectly on XP! (I've actually used it, so I should know ) I'm on official PM28 now that I'm running 7 on my temporary desktop (it was running XP for awhile because it was too slow otherwise (not enough RAM; I've since upgraded it)). If/when I go back to XP, I'm definitely using roytam1's PM28 builds, though! They also work well in Vista, which is in mostly the same boat as XP where browser support is concerned. c

dencorso Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 After MS changed minimal *hardware* specs silently between 8.0 and 8.1, one can always count on them letting one down at the worst moment, IMO.
