Kurt Posted January 7, 2018 Share Posted January 7, 2018 I want to upgrade my installed version from 1.4.6 to 1.5.7. I have a very sheltered Windows 10 version 1511 (build 10586) computer that I want to bring up to date to version 1709 (build 16299). I would like to upgrade Aero first (since the only other option is to uninstall it first) but I want to make sure that the new Aero version support the old Windows builds. The note on 1.5.3 suggests it doesn't work with old Windows builds, but the note on 1.5.7 suggests it does. Does that include a build as old as 10586? My preferred method for upgrade is to rename the old install files and just unzip the new ones and reboot. Is there a compelling reason why I should use the installer on the new version instead? Lastly, I'm curious if there is a way to have two active licenses. I have two identical solid state drives for my laptop. I do a periodic clone of one to the other for backup purposes then swap drives for wear leveling between them. Each time I switch I need to alternate between two licenses since the machine key must be derived from my hard drive's hardware serial number. I don't at all mind registering multiple times, but I would like to be able to have both licenses checked. Is this possible right now? Thanks kindly in advance for any advice. Zod Posted January 7, 2018 Share Posted January 7, 2018 The problem I've had upgrading to new versions of windows, is that the new windows doesn't support aeroglass and sometimes the conflict causes wierd things to happen like an infinite bootloop. My method is always to uninstall aero glass, upgrade windows, then reinstall aeroglass (using the latest version). All you need is they key file in the aeroglass directory to make sure it's licensed. I always copy it to another folder, but the aeroglass uninstall never seems to remove it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
