Windows 2000 on WD Easystore 8TB?

I'm trying to install Windows 2000 Datacenter Server on a 8TB Easystore plugged into my computer.

However, I get an ARCRead error, Setup cannot read the disk, and if I press enter anyway, I get a bugcheck.

Is there a guide on how to install it?

The drive has 512e disabled, so it's presented with logical 4kn.

However if I enable 512e, I can't use the drive's full capacity.

Windows 2000 crashes if a 4Kn IDE Drive is present at Boot.

I suspect that there is a buffer overflow problem in MTLDR.

It would probably crash if a Bootable 4K USB Drive is present also.

512e will work but limits you to 2TiB without special Drivers.

There are two different issues.

#1 installing a Windows 2000 on *any* USB drive - while doable - is not as easy/straightforward as a "normal" install

#2 a 4k disk drive may makes matter more complicated or impossible at all

IF the OP attempted to install Windows 2000 on USB "normally", it simply won't work, no matter the sector size of the device, while IF he is using one of the known methods:

(links to 911cd.net may still largely be accessed via Wayback Machine)

some changes may need to be implemented.

IF the issue is ONLY in the NTLDR (and/or SETUPLDR.BIN) then - maybe - using the corresponding NTLDR (and/or SETUPLDR.BIN)  and NTDETECT.COM may be enough to solve the issue.
