Well .. hate to bare bad news.

Malwarebytes 1.09.4.1001 and Malwarebytes Anti-RootKit are not receiving def updates anymore. I'll leave them installed but only for demand scans as I don't even user real-time anyway.

Will look into K7. I have no issue with Indian products and I DO use Quick Heal Anti Bot.

Still works and updates every month without fail.

That's unfortunately not all. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.2.1.1043 won't get definition updates anymore, either. It was discontinued in May of this year. I have used that version because Malwarebytes Premium for Windows 3.5.1.2522 doesn't work properly on my computer. Anyway, I already uninstalled Malwarebytes completely and removed its remnants. smilie-denk-24.gif

To use a light and working AV program I installed WiseVector StopX 3.0.7. It works great and consumes less resources than Avast!. And the best of all: it's free of charge. The best choice on my old computer at the moment! K7 is commercial, unfortunately. When the trial period is over, you have to pay for it.

But I realized you were asking about Total Security and I see it does NOT support xp; but their tools still do.

In the manual and on the QuickHeal homepage, it is claimed that the programs are compatible with Windows XP. Here is a quotation taken from the website of QuickHeal Total Security:

Quote

System requirements for various Microsoft Windows OS

Windows 11

Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster

RAM: 4 gigabyte (GB)

Windows 10

Processor: 1 GHz or faster

RAM: 1 GB for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit

Windows 8.1 / Windows 8

Processor: 1 GHz or faster

RAM: 1 GB for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit

Windows 7 SP 1 and later

Processor: 1 GHz or faster

RAM: 1 GB for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit

Make sure you have installed Microsoft patches KB4474419 and KB4490628 also.

How to check if the required patches are installed?

(1) Open Control Panel. (2) Go to Windows Update. (3) From the Windows Update page, click ‘View Update History’.

Windows XP
(Service Pack 2 and later)

Processor: 300 Megahertz (MHz) Pentium or faster

RAM: 512 MB

I don't use AV.

Never Avast, please...

I don't use "Real-Time" - rather only for on demand scanning. Never used Avast or AVG

Not using any AV program isn't a good idea, unfortunately. Nowadays, you can't avoid bad codeDrive-by-Download, Drive-by-Infection  or malware and so on by using your brain only while surfing the internet. internet07h.gif Anyway, I always use an AV program. And also its real-time protection, of course. Otherwise, it wouldn't make any sense. And to be fair, Avast! indeed protects the user in any case. firewall.gif I used Avast! Premier for many years without any infection. There are reasons why I changed from Avast! to WiseVector StopX, though. I will write something about it soon.
