Nope. I only need a low-profile video card.

Sure :) , but you are asking about a low profile video card "the best possible" AND compatible with Windows 98", what I was trying to tell you was that maybe instead of having the possibility to choose between a handful of low-profile card you could prefer to have the possibility to choose among tens of "full sized" video cards (BTW also much easier to find used/second hand) using such a riser card (of course it depends on the specific motherboard/case if the solution is suitable).

So you recommend me a Geforce 6200 128-bit with 256mb ram?

If you want the best performance, low-profile and passive cooling, this is the best bet.

Let's start over with the basics: What is the make and model of the compact pc, and what video card is currently in it?

Nvidia P118 (FX5200 128MB 8x AGP DVI Low Profile DDR) might be the only option. How big is the power supply? You might have no options if it is small. :(

Good read at Reddit: Time to go old. Need a low profile video card for Win98.

Google: low-profile video-card "agp 8x" Win98

To OP: beware that this specific "dell-ish" video card needs one of these adapters: (see picture)

the black end fits on the card connector and it yields two VGA connectors at the other end.

there's apparently a DVI version as well, if that's your thing.
