"Machine ID too short"

Trying to generate a new key and it tells me error machine ID too short.

I thought the Machine ID was the Physical Address in cmd - ipconfig /all?

It's been years since I had to generate another key and I do have plenty remaining.

Can someone help as the search produces nothing.

Edit: Found it, it's product ID in "About this pc"   but it still doesn't work, what's going on?

when Aero Glass starts it'll iirc open a windows to tell you the machine ID, otherwise, check the logs.

Yes I hadn't realized that the debug log in the AeroGlass folder shows it,.   Thanks.

all 3 buttons have same size:(

I'm pretty sure that's a given with Windows 10 - i.e., it's built in to the window compositing softare and you can't get around it.  I've just decided to get used to the buttons being the same size.

I'm very pleased to say I'm able to get Aero Glass to work now with v1903, and the same theme atlas I had put together a long time ago still works pretty darned well.

@NoelC Any ideas why I've lost the blur effect ?

Changing the blur values in AeroGlassGUI don't do anything, nothing about blur seems to be present in the registry (like windows wiped the keys) and DWM.exe don't throw symbol errors (so they're updated).

AeroGlass 1.5.11.1611 on 1809 build (I'm on slower branch)

Hi, for me it doesn't work anymore. Probably it happened in July already. The "DWM incompatibility error 0x81" line in the debug.log started back then. I just ignored the message until now, because I didn't really have time for dealing with it.

This still worked:

[2019-06-23 03:22:51][0x1EB4:0x3344] Aero Glass for Win8.1+ 1.5.10.1515 x64 correctly loaded (C:\AeroGlass\DWMGlass.dll).

[2019-06-23 03:22:52][0x1EB4:0x1E08] udwm.dll version 10.0.17134.81

This didn't work anymore:

[2019-07-15 02:33:48][0x5C8:0x17A8] Aero Glass for Win8.1+ 1.5.10.1515 x64 correctly loaded (C:\AeroGlass\DWMGlass.dll).

[2019-07-15 02:33:49][0x5C8:0x17AC] DWM incompatibility error 0x81

Windows Version: 10.0.17134
Edit: More precise: 10.0.17134.984

And I don't have a "symbols"-folder in C:\AeroGlass at all. Is it possible that it didn't exist when AeroGlass was working? Or did the folder disappear when I deinstalled AeroGlass earlier today?

Downloading and installing the new version didn't help. I can find the files dwmcore.dll version 10.0.17134.858 and udwm.dll version 10.0.17134.81 in my system32-folder. But I don't really understand which versions are not compatible. The files have the same version like the Windows system, if I understand it correctly. Do I need a "symbols"-folder in C:\AeroGlass? What do I need in it and how could I manually get it?

Thanks for help!

Edit: I found a script by UCyborg in another thread ("Aeroglass stopped working Again") that downloaded successfully the pdb-files and created the needed folders. It's working great again :)

Any updates on AeroGlass for latest Windows 10 1909?

Wondering the same. Symbols download fine, but I am still getting the DWM compatibility error. I have deleted and downloaded new symbols about 4 times and it does not change anything. If I click "cancel" instead of "retry" then Aeroglass works on 1909, but I have to do that every time do a logon.

Downloads are broken on the author's page...

Can't download version version 1.5.12 from glass8.eu

Any way to let the author know?

Delete the "s" in the URL HTTP:// instead of HTTPS:// and it should download fine. I have to do that every time.
