I created the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion DWORD value there called PreferExternalManifest set to 1 I put the file firefox.exe.manifest into C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox Rebooted. But this is not working. Still black tab bar. I removed the userChrome.css mod. Then tab bar is solid color and do not have transparency. .... You need to add that DWORD not into the location mentioned but in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide. SkyySX Posted July 13, 2019 Share Posted July 13, 2019 Sorry I just double-checked and yeah the correct location in the registry is indeed SideBySide, I copied the key from a tutorial yesterday that had it wrong. Although I'm stumped why it doesn't seem to work for others. You could also try to modify the manifest inside Firefox.exe directly with ResourceHacker, I can provide instructions for that too if people are interested. Ex_Brit Posted July 30, 2019 Share Posted July 30, 2019 (edited) "Machine ID too short" Trying to generate a new key and it tells me error machine ID too short. I thought the Machine ID was the Physical Address in cmd - ipconfig /all? It's been years since I had to generate another key and I do have plenty remaining. Can someone help as the search produces nothing. Edit: Found it, it's product ID in "About this pc" but it still doesn't work, what's going on?
