@blackwingcat

I installed your KernelEx with your given informations in this forum.
The KernelEx installs without an error message, but my system does not start up
properly after the required reboot.

Start up takes 10 minutes to show up the logon screen and displays an error message:
"The system cannot log you on because the domain is unavailable."

I have tried to follow your informations for minimum requirements:

Extended kernel v2.x Minimum requirement is following.

1. Install IE6SP1+ Win2000 SP4 SRP1(Official)
2. Update for Root Certificates For Windows XP [April 2012] (KB931125) (Installed without message)
3. [MS12-052]Cumulative Security Update for Windows 2000 Internet Explorer 6 SP1 (2722913)

blackwingcat Posted June 17, 2013

and you had better install [MS13-028]Cumulative Security Update for Windows 2000 Internet Explorer 6 SP1 (2817183)

blackwingcat Posted July 15, 2016

1. You should install Internet Explorer 6 security update KB2722913 or later from WLU.
2. You should apply QFE registry before install it.
3. It may require recent cert root update.
4. v28* is compatible version for Vista. v28*G is compatible version for Windows 2000/XP.
I recommend v28*G.

Now the system does not start up as described above (it takes 10 minutes...).

1. Can you give me a hint what i have to do to get the system to start up?

2. You posted: "Install IE6SP1+ Win2000 SP4 SRP1(Official)"
What exactly do you mean with SRP1?

If i google for it i found:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/311401
Windows 2000 Security Rollup Package 1 (SRP1), January 2002
This Security Rollup Package is included in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3

So SRP1 is still included in SP4, do you mean another update?

  • 3 weeks later...

Found the solution:

You have to copy msvcp60.dll into system32 folder BEFORE you execute the KernelEx-Setup
and reboot the system. Thats all. Now the system starts up with no problems.

I have taken msvcp60.dll (6.2.3104.0) directly from the extracted KernelEx_v28hG folder.

  • 11 months later...

but does your system work normal then? (I tried that on IBM Thinkpad T60 with all drivers and after that my fingerprint reader stopped working and my WIFI stooped working also system took much longer to boot

for Windows Installer to work I had to copy msvcp60.dll and then Windows installer worked again but I still cannot find any fix for WIFI

using theese drivers for wifi: http://www.nobu-usa.com/drivers/n8wts_v1.0/intel_wireless_2915ABG/WinXP Pro/Wireless_TIC_125458_v10.5.1.0_XP32_Connection_Software.exe

the weird thing is if I uninstall Intel Proset + drivers and reinstall them again WIFI works til I reboot then it stops working

Were you able to figure out how to install KernelX with all drivers and did everything worked as expected (WIFI and all that)
