Looks like K-Lite Codec Pack 13.8.0 is the last version that is compatible with Windows XP. Official Links (identical pairs) to various editions of this pack (from small basic set for playback only up to Mega - the most complete set with codecs used for video encoding and editing)

FileLocator Pro 7.5 build 2114 .

In the succeeding versions (8.0) the installers refuse to work on XP (and indeed its support was officially dropped).

VLC Media Player will soon stop supporting Windows XP and Vista, as well as the Server-editions of each OS. I have posted more information about this on my Last versions of software for Windows Vista list here:

@WinClient5270

Thanks for the update.

As VLC 2.0.x has been in development since 2012, I expect version 3.0.x to live on for quite a while after it is released. I'm guessing there will be major point releases such as "3.1.x" and "3.5.x".

I also want to note that Apple Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard (both Intel and PowerPC) has continued to be supported through VLC 2.0.10: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/releases/2.0.0.html

It is pretty remarkable support that VideoLan has supported PowerPC this long, when Apple began the transition from PowerPC to Intel in 2006, 12 years ago! https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

I am reading that it says 'latest version' and not 'last version' for WinXP ... you may well be right, I guess we'll know for sure with the next release. I almost read it as 'last' myself for a few seconds. Maybe it says 'last' somewhere else that I did not see.

"Version 13.8 of K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is the latest version compatible with Windows XP."

The current version of Process Explorer (16.21) although it seems to work on XP reports incorrect values.
It is preferable to use the version 16.12.

SeaMonkey was updated from 2.49.2 to 2.49.3 on May 4. However, I've discovered that "Check for Updates" from the file help menu does not detect the update, and it is necessary to manually install the update (https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/seamonkey/releases/2.49.3/win32/en-US/SeaMonkey Setup 2.49.3.exe).

I filed a bug report on Bugzilla today: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1468378

Are there any?

unless microsoft finds a new security flaw in silverlight, there are no new versions of it.  I'll uninstall it on any existing PC that I have.
