Latest Version of Software Running on XP

The first link I posted up there is supposed to point to the last ad-free version.

I also noticed the current version 1.7.21289 was released two times, first on 10th September, second on 15th September, at least those dates are last modification dates of installers and also PotPlayer.dll (the core DLL of the player) inside.

The DLLs differ, but they have the same version number.

P.S. I changed 127.0.0.1 with 0.0.0.0 because it is better.

How is this better? You like to broadcast ad requests to your whole network?

[edit] So, the packets are dropped... seems better for most cases, except when the program hangs there waiting for any response.

 

P.S. plenty of PotPlayer posts here, even without the latest ad-related ones... maybe open a dedicated discussion?

NovirusThanks OSArmor 1.5.1.0 has been release and is free for XP users. 

Even if XP is no more supported, the developper claims that the software run perfectly on XP.

It's true, I'm running it on one computer. 

A tip for all XP users:

Once NovirusThanks OSArmor is  installed, go to the Add/Remove Programs tool and uninstall the NovirusThanks Licence Manager 1.0.
As NovirusThanks OSArmor is free on XP systems, you don't need it and the licence manager have an issue on XP (starting delay of 180 secondes for the service in the events viewer)
Perhaps because I was offline, I don't know ?

Hi, in the software web page it is written that OSA is installable from Vista:

Not XP.

And in my opinion it is also a mistake as the developer writes that it is installable from Windows 7.

I would not want the new build of OSA to still be installable in Windows XP because it drags the software part of the initial versions.
To which I have also collaborated for the resolution of many problems.
You can also check this in the Wilders thread.

 

 

I have considerable doubts that Andreas (the developer) has done extensive testing with Windows XP.

I'm sending you part of a rather long private conversation in OSA development.
If you know Italian you will notice that the developer uses a Windows XP virtual machine.
And in many parts of the speech it's not sure that the changes made to the software eliminated the problems in Windows XP:

 

My question is:

OSA is installable OK, but will it be fully compatible?

If OSA latest build is no longer officially supported any problems that are not transmitted to other OS will not be fixed.

At the moment I prefer to leave my OSA build 1.4.x installed.

I notified the developer about various security issues which were fixed in later builds.

If the team of security OSA they didn't detect them, they will probably be present in this latest build as well.

Or maybe not, who knows, in the absence of extensive testing that hasn't been run on an OS that is no longer officially supported.
